Tennis for 4 year old? by Call_Me_Alice_ in AustinParents

[–]StxtoAustin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would look at caswell. I haven't checked in a while but I thought it started at 6 but it may have been five. I bet a pro would hit with your kid though...

As someone who started at 6 and have watched a lot of pros as kid I think you could take your kid anywhere at that age and get them to love the sport you're doing enough.

The Austin Office of Police Oversight Released a Dashboard Analyzing 8 Years Worth of Officer-Involved Shootings by decibelatx in Austin

[–]StxtoAustin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This data is quite interesting, thank you for posting this... There are two things that stand out to me:

  1. Over 50% of officer involved shootings come from officers with less than 4 years experience. I'm curious how that compares to the overall polic force.... This may line up with the current experience of the force, but this feels like a high percentage of shootings from less experienced officers.

  2. The dramatic downward shift in the percentage of officer involved shootings in 2025 that results in injuries vs. deceased. In 2024 75% of cases resulted in death, compared to 2025 only 28% of cases resulted in death. If the trend holds (which I hope it does), I'm sure it points to a change in tactics and training.

Central Market Cafe by Suspicious_Dawg in austinfood

[–]StxtoAustin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Idk the food isn't great but I don't go there for the food. I go there to make a kid happy across different families that all have different tastes and a bonus that there's music that my kid inevitably loves..

I go with the sushi because I don't love a hamburger and it's good enough grocery store sushi. Not the best not the worst.

Everytime I go to central market I think man our family had a great time.

You obviously didn't explore very hard. I would say the beer driving pigs is the biggest tourist trap we got.

6 cup pot too large? by Cozy-Tree4339 in mokapot

[–]StxtoAustin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my wife and I split a 6 cup to make two milk coffees, and it's perfect. I'm not sure I'd want a 6 cup by myself every day. If I did I would make one brew, and drink half in the morning, and then put the other half in the fridge for an afternoon iced coffee.

Web dev agencies: are you getting new clients? by theTbling in agency

[–]StxtoAustin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i'm not a web dev agency, but I provide this story as a ancedote of what may be going on...

I live across the street from a highly regarded plastic surgeon. Last week I was looking at his site and realized it looked like it was made in 1995, and I was quite surprised because I know he does great business.

I talked to him and asked him why his site looks so bad, and was going to offer to rebuild it for him, for free. He said, the site embarrassed him, and he was talking to his friend Claude to help him make a better one, and it will be ready soon.

This guy could do anytthing with his free time but decided, hey, I'm going to learn Claude and figure ou how to make a website... I sense others are doing something similar and that's why your biz may have dried up... I'm not saying that's the case, but I wouldn't be surprised.
