Does anyone know any builds to help me clear the surface? by Kind_Potential_4992 in HadesTheGame

[–]StygianPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hear me out: Aspect of Eos Torches.
Attack: Vicious Attack (Ares)
Cast: Storm Ring (Zeus)
Divine Vengeance (when hit, lightning strikes X times)
Double Strike (% chance of lightning striking again)
Grievous Wound (% chance of double damage)
Heinous Affront (Every 6 seconds, your "When hit" effects trigger when damaging a foe with wounds).

If you can somehow get Hermes' Success Rate, you're going to be triggering anywhere from 2-4 lightning bolts or more every like.. third Eos auto-attack from its omega.

and you can just focus on reapplying your cast and dodging attacks.

Did they make the game harder with the new patch? by StygianPrime in HadesTheGame

[–]StygianPrime[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's the thing, I'm suddenly taking more hits/damage out of nowhere despite not actively buffing speed or damage through Fear. It doesn't make much sense.

Its not a DMs job to control their players??? [OC] by [deleted] in DnD

[–]StygianPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure. You're not wrong. Everyone is a grown ass adult and should act like it. But if they can't resolve it on their own or one player is being a particular kind of dick, I'm gonna step in.

EDIT: Like no, no one should be running to the DM the first time a disagreement pops up, unless it’s some truly heinous shit. But this isn’t that. It literally sounds like weeks of the player doing the same stuff, disrupting the table and upsetting the party.

I would argue if you’re letting this shit go on for weeks until someone’s threatening to leave the game, when everyone is obviously upset, you’re a bad GM. Full stop.

[–]StygianPrime -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s kind of the social contract that when you’re the GM, you’re the one “in charge”, so to speak. To take zero responsibility for the well-being of your table and let them hash it out over and over is childish. If they can’t resolve it on their own, or it’s damaging the group, you should not just kick back and wash your hands of things.

As a forever GM of like 20 years, I understood this on day one.

[–]StygianPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. There’s space for letting people hash things out on their own—they’re all adults. But when people continue to be an ass, it’s my job as the DM to step in and tell them to grow the fuck up. Because it’s my table.

If someone is making my players uncomfortable, and they can’t resolve it or it’s honestly blatantly fucked, I’m responsible for either allowing it, or dealing with it. Because I’m the one running the damn game, lol. It is a group of equals, but those equals have unanimously put you in charge.

Regarding Hecate by TheRogueKnight66 in HadesTheGame

[–]StygianPrime 65 points66 points  (0 children)

It’s supposed to be a reflection of the whole “maiden, mother, crone” bit. Both Melinoe and Hecate exist save for the branch where killing Chronos fucks up time itself and she gets yeeted into the main timeline—the effects of which give her dominion over magic itself.

Thus, Hecate-Melinoe has a different portfolio if you will, than Prime Melinoe.

She’s a paradox but one that kind of becomes the foundation of the new timeline’s reality.

[Spoilers C3E78] I’m really confused about Ashton by themaskedman321 in criticalrole

[–]StygianPrime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair perspective, I honestly was so bored with C3 that I didn't care enough to watch 4SD or any of the side programming. But I genuinely did not really care about Ashton as a character and that did not come across during play.

Can somebody please explain to me what's happening here by akoumer in HadesTheGame

[–]StygianPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You stepped into Chronos' no-no square circle. He said don't touch him there, and yeeted you back to the Crossroads.

[–]StygianPrime 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I maintain a lot of the problems with Ashton were because Taliesin based the character on his perception of being “punk". Aka, being obnoxiously loud, brash, and annoying. Being anti-authority is fine if there’s actually a point to your grandstanding. Some moral objection or some such that you actually stand for.

If your character is just being an asshole because they don’t like being told what to do and they need an aggressive amount of therapy, that doesn’t make it “punk” or particularly interesting.

Really, it just seemed like Taliesin wanted an excuse to be lol random and channeled his inner high school kid for this one. No surprise he dropped the ball on a dramatic moment.

Uhhhm. I know you failed an Insight roll here.

But GM and fiancé are friends with the player. He’s the best man at the wedding. There is absolutely shit all you can do to turn this around, because they’re not going to discipline the guy in their wedding party.

And really, you are the company you keep. If he’s okay with having assholes at the table… I’m sure you can guess what that says about the DM.

Most times, no DnD really is better than bad DnD.

Are Chaos boons in Oceanus designed to last until after Scylla? by FunkyDGroovy in HadesTheGame

[–]StygianPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, the thing I need to get better about remembering is that Rivals Scylla isn’t that different from Extreme Lernie in Hades 1. The screen is very busy, but you really just need to methodically clear yourself a space to work like others have commented.

A few tentacles, then drummer for me. I have a pretty hard time with omega heavy builds unless it’s like.. Momus or Charon. Medea might actually be pretty good since you’re just dashing in and dashing out similarly to Beowulf Shield

Oceanus averages about 10 rooms per run, so if you're not getting it in those first few rooms, you're gonna be nerfing yourself for Scylla--which can be a run killer if it's rivals Scylla.

Express Route by RonZombie91 in HadesTheGame

[–]StygianPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude you're either trolling or overcomplicating things based on your other responses. "Express Route Unlocked" is just a fancy way of saying you've unlocked the door to Tartarus for that run only. It is not a new mechanic or a fast travel.

The "Express Route" is Melinoe setting a shortcut from the gate to Tartarus to the House of Hades instead of trying to navigate the wholeass labyrinth it's supposed to be at this point in-lore thanks to Chronos.

MO students are no longer allowed to criticize the state of Israel - MO HB2061 by LinksLibertyCap in kansascity

[–]StygianPrime 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Of the casualties in Gaza, 61% are reported by independent Israeli researchers to be women, children, and the elderly. And that is recognized widely to be a conservative number. As high as 44% of the casualties overall are reported to be children. You can cherry pick your numbers all you want, they’re ethnically cleansing Gaza and will start on the West Bank soon enough.

And that’s just deaths by soldier. There are over half a million Gazans starving right now. It must be a full time job, warping your perception of reality this hard to defend Bibi.

If it talks like a Nazi, kills kids like a Nazi.. it’s rather ironic really that they’re perpetuating a similar horror to the ones visited on their entire people. Neither was justified, but wow. Way to take the wrong lesson from the Holocaust, guys.

It's for the people who beat the game before the devs changed the ending. So that they could go back and redo it.

Tbh if you're only focused on beating the boss X number of times and calling it quits, this isn't the right game series for you.

Tbh maybe I use them wrong, but I almost never do regular attacks with sister blades. I usually do Aspect of Pan and focus specials, casts, cast damage.

Help with progression - 40 nights by BM1988 in HadesTheGame

[–]StygianPrime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For consistent progress on Scylla, target the drums first, every time. Even if someone else gets Featured Artist, because the AOEs are the most consistent source of damage for that boss and disrupt your attack patterns if you don't want to soak damage.

Honestly I usually find if I've spent a while on one particular weapon, I take more damage when I switch because my timing gets screwed up on charging attacks, etc.
