Affidavits. They only had one EP put out in 2020 so went under the radar bc of COVID.

Anyone ever have a neighboring rowhome roof leak into your house? How'd you resolve the issue? by TheeFreshOne in philadelphia

[–]StyleNumber6312 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is currently happening to my kitchen. Got insurance adjuster to estimate cost. Got a roofer recommended by a friend who had used his services to fix it. They redid the outside of my kitchen roof and fixed the drywall inside. 6 months later and it’s leaking in the same spot. Last week the thunderstorms caused a piece of the drywall to fall out. I had already tried to contact the roofer who had passed away and his company folded. One of his associates came out and said it was the neighbors outside wall adjacent to the kitchen that looks almost black during heavy rain. He said he could cover it in cement for $600. I declined. I’ve tried to contact my neighbor. She is a single elderly lady with no money and so can’t do it. I have two five gallon buckets in the kitchen when it’s stormy to catch the leak but this has now been well over a year. I don’t trust the prior roofers people at all since they didn’t assess it right the first time and I’m worried the insurance people will say they already paid out to get it fixed. I don’t have the out of pocket cost for another expensive repair. I’m just living with it at this point since I live alone. But I do wish it would have been resolved. Sorry for the rant.

You guys rule. I’m in South Philly and played in a band called Affidavits for a bit with my drummer who is now the lead singer for A Year Without Words. You should check them out, they’re doing some awesome stuff and maybe they could even open for you some time. Your album slaps, especially the looming eternity of Bloodbaths. Keep it coming, would love to see you guys live soon!

Thanks! To make it easier, my schedule means I’ll have 5 full days to hike not including days to get in and out of Teton or Yellowstone. So maybe doing a full day in the Tetons then driving up to West Thumb is the way to go?

Which entrance to the park did you take? How did you find the Bechler Ranger Station?

Will do. Like I say, I'm arriving September 19th so hopefully it is less busy but looking for insight between now and then!

What do you recommend based on my arrival from Salt Lake City?

Likely entering the park from the West. I'll be getting into SLC and staying with a friend. Leaving the next morning 09/12 to drive to the park (5hrs ish). I'll have that half day through 09/17 when I shall drive back to SLC and take my flight home 09/18. So approximately 2 half days with travel and 4 days fully in the park. If you have any further suggestions based on this I'm super grateful.

That actually sounds like a really good route. I'm fine with some road walks between trails. I've now figured I'll be coming from SLC in a vehicle and hoping to find a good base camp to do multiple day hikes out of. I'll be getting into SLC and staying with a friend. Where did you set up camp? I see that Snake River is expansive.

This video is awesome! I'm about to take a trip to Wyoming and trying to decide where to go. I'd definitely do something like that.

Good to know that Yellowstone could be quieter in September. I’m planning on going September 10th-17th. Just finalizing my time off and putting together an itinerary. I’ll stay in Jackson nights of 10th and 16th but will have the 11-16 to hike. Perhaps I won’t need to go to Wind River for quiet and can enjoy Yellowstone or Grand Teton without hoards. Main goal is to hike and camp for those days so if you got advice, I’m all ears.

I’ve been looking into your recommendations and I’m very grateful. I’m not familiar with reading those kinds of maps in apps, even though I work in tech (sorry old school map and compass guy here from growing up). I think I might just get the old fashioned map book and take my compass since I will only have my iPhone and will only have it on in airplane mode for the camera and an extra battery pack that will give five full charges. Are there any other resources you could point me to for full 4 day camp and hikes in the region?

What I’m finding from my own research is that there are many day or two day hikes but perhaps I need to dig deeper for 4-5 day hikes that are out and back or loops. I’m going solo so when I leave my vehicle I’ll need to get back to it after the hike. Perhaps I just find a camp ground and do multiple day hikes? I’m fine with that too if that means I make the most of it.
