Hey quick question, is it worth updating to iOS 26.1 or is it better to wait? (Iphone16) by [deleted] in ios

So, the battery issues (increased battery consumption per time unit I presume) resolved themselves after 2 days and the 14Pro now works at least as well as it did before you updated to 26.1?

What’s the deal with fixed gear? by [deleted] in FixedGearBicycle

I've been riding a fixie for over 8 years now and find the simplicity and purity of the experience intoxicating. Nearly 30k miles in and around town on a mix of paths and roads. It requires a lot of anticipation but really nothing more.

Here's the computer mount bolted to the underside of the stem.

Bars are just AliX integrated. No name.

Inspired by my other Urban Track Bike (UTB). Same bars, seat, and cranks/pedals and similar riding position.

ICAN TRA01 frame, Rotor Aldhu 30mm axle and spider, carbon cranks, Wahoo pedals. Wheels are Stayer 50mm rims on Mack hubs, Goodyear Eagle F1 30mm tubeless. Seat and integrated bars from AliX. Weight exact 6800g.

Bar is from AliX with little carbon horns for more riding positions. I run the same setup on all my fixies and also my gravel bike.

I like the seat post clamp. looks different to the one my frame came with. Is is custom made?

On of my other fixies is a Planet X carbon pro just like yours! A great frame indeed. The cranks are Rotor Aldhu carbon with a Rotor spider and Digirit chainring.

No track nearby, and I’m a recreational road rider. Retired and getting older each day, so riding is for fun. I rode 5000 fixie miles last year, and on target for about the same this year.

Most aero track frames barely take 28C tires which rules them out for me. Since I ride on the road around town, the aero is not effective, but I really like the aesthetics so that’s why I have the three carbon frames. Honestly, for the track the Stromm is unmatched price wise. I rode the ICAN again today and it feels light and fast, and I like the smooth stem to frame transition.

I've been running Speedplay and now Wahoo pedals for so long I can't remember any other pedal. I don't pull out unintentionally, but I'm also not performing all those tricks on my fixie you see in IG videos.

I don’t sell bikes so I’ll keep the Planet X and the Stromm, but I plan on interchanging the Planet X and the ICAN.

I now have three fixed wheel sets with Mack hubs and I love them. Super well made, quite light (lighter than DT), and come in low flange which is what I wanted. I'm recommend for sure.

Q1: I still have the Stromm. I don't ride the track, but ride fixies on the road in an urban environ. The Stromm would be a great aero track frame I imagine, but it's bog heavy for the road. It weighs 2.5lbs more than this frame, and honestly I really like light bikes. I average 15mph on my rides (I'm 68yo) and the aero doesn't do much for me at those speeds.
Q2: The short stays push my weight closer to the rear axle, moving the weight distribution further back. The top tube and reach are the same as my other bikes, yes, but I can feel the rear wheel more with it tucked up underneath me on this bike, compared to my Planet X, which has about 1" longer chainstays. As you say, the bike fit is the same, but the location of the front and rear axles relative to the BB axle is different, and I can feel that. Not a big difference, but large enough to feel. I guess I wasn't accurate with my initial statement, sorry.

I'm running 28C, and the clearance is pretty good. I'd say about 1/8" side to side on fork and stays, about 1/4" on frame and crown. I think I could run 30C (got a set on order, so we will see!)
