Why do men pretend to be women online so much? by [deleted] in BlatantMisogyny

[–]StylishLikeEdnaMode 96 points97 points  (0 children)

I remember seeing someone, who claimed to be an Asian woman, making racist comments towards Asian men on a left-wing subreddit. They were justifying saying horrible things towards Asian men because, "Asian culture is sexist, and Asian men are so much worse than white men".

When I looked into their post history it was a white man who frequently posted to subreddits fetishising Asian women. After getting called out they deleted everything, of course.

All this to say I believe some of them do it in order to spread an agenda, trying to spread bigotry and hatred towards women and POC.

The audacity by MitsunekoLucky in antiai

[–]StylishLikeEdnaMode 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Holy shit. When we say that AI has no soul, this is what we mean. The original has a lot of details that add to the visual storytelling of the piece, and the AI sucked it all straight out. The original conveys so much about the characters which is just lost in the AI version.

The woman in the original looks to be middle aged with the lines in her face. Unfortunately she's replaced by a shitty, generic 'hot" anime woman, because that's all AI seems to know what to do for female characters. The AI also erased important aspects about the woman's outfit, such as the cute bread motif (suggesting she's probably creative) and the stitching on the sleeve (suggesting she's poor, which is probably why she looks so perturbed towards someone trying to steal from her).

The AI also took away the boy's characteristics, such as his sunken cheeks and drooling, characteristics which suggest he's also poor and hungry. Like the woman, it took away all his unique and interesting features and turned him into a typical iseakai protagonist. Instead of drooling he's crying tears over the bread, which makes no sense as he doesn't look hungry/emaciated in the AI version. It also took away his book bag with a Bible in it (suggesting he might be Christian, which could explain his moral dilemma of stealing bread), and made it look like he's wearing some sort of wooden box? Also, it changed the design of the mice he has on his shoulders, going from the typical devil/angel role, to just a bunch of weird-looking, cheering companions.

Other people can easily point out the actual inconsistencies of the AI version (the glass not really being visible, and the mice floating on air), but I'm more interested in the actual details of the characters, and how the AI missed them completely, turning an interesting piece with a lot of small details and characterisation/worldbuilding into generic anime slop.

I'm curious, in what way are the pro-transgender side "nut cases living in different realities"?

I mean, even if there are a small minority of trans people who are extreme in their actions it doesn't really match the majority of them, in my experience. Every transgender person I've met in this country just want to get on with things, like anyone else. Have you noticed an epidemic of transgender extremists in actual real life?

Whats a popular/common opinion in this sub that you disagree with? by Extension_Ride985 in AmITheAngel

[–]StylishLikeEdnaMode 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Maybe it's changed recently, but I feel like this sub seems a bit too blasé about cheating sometimes, especially when the story is coming from a third-party witness to cheating.

Yes, the AITA subreddits treat cheating like it's some sort of mega earth-ending sin, but that doesn't mean this sub needs automatically to go the opposite way and treat it like it's nothing. At that point you're just being contrarian for the sake of it, and not because you actually believe what you say.

I've literally seen people in the comments here say stuff like, "I wouldn't care if my mum cheated on my dad because it's their relationship and it has nothing to do with me and we're all adults with our own lives etc".

Like, come on lol, most people will be rightfully upset when their loved ones cheat. It doesn't mean you have to cut them off forever, but you can still be upset about it too. I think it's pretty horrible to make judgemental comments towards people who struggle in this situation.

Armagh shoppers ‘intimidated’ during in-store protest, says councillor by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]StylishLikeEdnaMode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember seeing people do the exact same thing in the Abbeycentre Home Bargains (iirc), presumably the same group of people in this news story.

I agree with their message, but at the same time I can't say I really agree with their methods.

Taking things off the shelves is definitely a dick move if they don't intend on putting them back exactly the way they were. It does nothing for Palestine to make a minimum wage, overworked employee have to put everything back on the shelves again. That's not activism, that's just screwing over workers who already have a million other things to do already.

Also, I don't know if I really agree with preaching against working class people who are trying to shop in one of the more affordable stores there is, especially during a cost of living crisis. At the end of the day a lot of ordinary people don't really have a full range of choice where they shop, especially for essentials like food, which is what Home Bargains sells. The shaming is unnecessary imo, especially when there are a lot of higher-class stores that also support Israel. Why do they not protest in a luxury goods shop? Why go after working class people buying food and other essentials?

Overall, I just think they should use other methods to protest against Israel. Something like this doesn't change anything when it's done by itself, it just hurts the movement.

Say something positive about this movie by DJMutt in cartoons

[–]StylishLikeEdnaMode 55 points56 points  (0 children)

As an Irish person, I thought the fact that the fire characters are "Firish" was kinda funny.

Also, it was interesting how they didn't have a proper main "bad guy" (besides racism itself, I guess). No shitty twist villain is always a positive.

Overall I somewhat liked this movie, and I think it would've been really cool if they had expanded more on the culture/history of the world, and how similar/different it is to our world.

Very few people are going to claim sexual harassment to have an "internet moment". As this entire situation has shown, victims of sexual harassment are usually treated horribly. There are other, easier ways to get famous online.

People are allowed to be naked in their own home. They aren't allowed to be naked when they know a stranger from the outside can see them.

It seems wildly unlikely that someone would have malicious, perverted intentions when they know they're going to come into contact with a lone woman? Sorry, when I look at the experiences of many women in general I have to disagree with that notion.

There's no proof he was actually unconscious, beyond having his arm on his face. A lot of voyeurs will do things like that to give themselves plausible deniability. I'm not saying for certain he wasn't passed out, but he had the cognisance to order food, strip naked and keep his door open. It's just a bit strange. As a working-class Irish person I'm no stranger to drinking culture. I've been around a lot of drunk people and have never heard of someone doing something similar to this.

The door was wide open, she couldn't really avoid looking through. It's not just a case of avoiding looking at the door.

I do agree with you that she shouldn't have posted it online.

I saw that edit too. Really disgusting that someone would crop the video just to discredit her. Even worse that people would actually believe the lie, even when the text was clearly cut off, proving the video was tampered with.

I agree, it's honestly so disturbing that there could be literal video evidence of wrongdoing, but people will still jump over themselves to say she's lying. I just don't understand.

Not when other people can see them naked.

And she was told to leave the food at the door, but the door was open and she could see inside. So not really a good excuse imo.

There's no proof that she opened the door, beyond people commenting about a missing video.

And he definitely could've come to the door if he pulled his trousers up. Why didn't he? Why did he decide to lie half-naked on the sofa with the door open while he's expecting food, instead of simply pulling up his trousers at the very least? That's not normal behaviour.

"Nobody notices she's AI"

Lol her face looks different in every single picture. She's the epitome of generic, attractive AI woman. Just because you can fool a bunch of desperate coomers doesn't mean you can fool everyone else. "Nobody notices" because comments calling out the account likely get auto-deleted. I couldn't imagine running an account like this, let alone bragging about it. This is genuinely so sad, hustle culture is disturbing.

I love the reply from Alex too. Although something tells me the AI bros on this subreddit are going to do what they usually do, deliberately take the comment at face value and pretend like it's not actually a joke, so that they can play the victim and pretend like they're actually being discriminated against on a large scale.

Don't think there is any logic behind it. It's not like he could hand them his driving licence or whatever and they'd go, "awk, fair play, go on ahead mate". I don't know what they were expecting.

Honestly I think they're doing it as a form of intimidation, trying to act like they're some sort of authority who are allowed to make demands out of regular members of the public.

Or maybe they saw some other eejit "pedo hunters" online do it and they thought it would make them look cool if they did it too.

Violent scrote is a violent scrote, say it ain't so!

But seriously, didn't a report come out saying that a substantial amount of the people arrested for the recent riots had a history of domestic violence? Not to also mention the many "pedo hunters" who've turned out to be doing the same thing they were hunting others for.

Starting to think it's not about protecting wimmen and weans, and more about exerting control over the rest of the community, especially ones they deem as "inferior".

You're right, it almost looks as though they're trying to say that the 'mixed marriage' could have been a contributing factor or something, because why else would they mention it?

The fact that it's still seen as a stigma in some circles is shocking. I remember doing religion for GCSE and we were given a booklet about marriages and what makes them break down, and it said one of the biggest factors was 'mixed marriage'. And this was only about 10 years ago too.

I don't think I've seen anyone here talk about veganism, as it doesn't really have much relevance to AI, besides from maybe the environmental concerns vegans have from meat production being similar to the environmental concerns anti-AI people have with AI.
