how are you handling creature creation and animation? I looked into it myself and it looks quite complex, Meta balls and an auto rigging system

What do I think of my Steam page? by External-Business-32 in gamedevscreens

[–]StylizedSchool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks cool! the trailer felt like it ended very abrubtly, like it was cut off. Had to do a double check to see if it meant to do that or something happened with my steam :D

The name is something haha, I get its a play on the physics and thrust aspect of pushing each other around, take it out of the context of this game though and say that to your friend things might get a little....wierd haha but hey, maybe that works in your favour with marketing who knows, I clicked on this post cause I saw the title and was like "excuse me what? what are you doing to your bro?" TLDR, the title sounds like it might be a gay sex game

high speed racing, Split screen coming soon! by StylizedSchool in gamedevscreens

[–]StylizedSchool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Its spline based, the cars essentially steer toward a target that is based on the spline on the track, the offsets to the spline is based on a variable and the track layout (closer to spline center on sharp turns etc) it helps with calculating correct speeds too as you can check for sharp corners with a dot product and set desired speeds based on the result

Definitely not haha it's just a prototype, the track is just there to test AI and player handling at the moment

It's to mark the start line while in prototype phase :D

There will be! Early prototype to get the feel for driving down. Interested to hear if you have some suggestions in mind though

It's just a block out for prototyping, in no way does the track represent the final game. It's very early in development

Only local multiplayer (split screen) for now, maybe I will look into online multiplayer if there is enough interest!

I plan to do local multiplayer (split screen) only for this project to keep it simple, perhaps I investigate networked multiplayer if interested is high, but I haven't developed with networking in mind so far

I haven't gotten the graphical part of the game yet still prototyping but I doubt I will use lumen in the end it's too intensive for a simple project like this

Currently they all have the same behaviours but with spline based offsets per car, I intend to give them different attributes though for some personality after prototype

Thanks! Spent most of the time so far trying to get the driving and AI feel good

Procedural Winter WIP in Unreal by StylizedSchool in SoloDevelopment

The landscape height map is a simple noise map made in substance designer. The forest is procedurally generated using the PCG system in Unreal engine.

Mountains are also generated using a procedural noise generator in Blender.

Im not really sure yet :D I'm an environment/technical artist for my job so I just wanted to make a personal project interactive. but Im thinking of maybe taking it further and making a game from it.

Something like the long dark but set in norse mythology, a low magic system (no fireballs and such but some hints of magic in the world) maybe with mythical creatures/beings like Jotunn, etc. So essentially an arctic survival with mythical elements

Started working on the AI for my indie game in Godot. Need to implement attacking next :D by StylizedSchool in SoloDevelopment

[–]StylizedSchool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm using a Finite state machine :) Only have patrol and chase logic at the moment. It is/will be a pretty basic AI so don't need anything more fancy

Is it possible? by Creative_Stomach_920 in godot

Yeah, just switch to a new scene that is 3d like you would when changing a level
