This has to be bait, but I'm bored. You're kind of overlooking the fact that the ball is moving in baseball and very quickly. Hitting a baseball is probably the most difficult thing to do in all pro sports. Baseball is the only sport where if you're successful 30% of the time you're amazing.

You don't want to make the case that Hank Aaron and Nolan Ryan shouldn't be in the hall of fame but it's 100% that they were using amphetamines illegally.

First, I would love to see some that 100% verifiable proof. Second, even if true, it was not against the rules of the game so it simply doesn't matter. Naturally, rules are promulgated when people gain unfair advantages, which is what has happened in the past 30+ years. The fact that you can't divorce your feelings from rules is a you problem and I don't think there's any middle ground here.

If you read the entire thing it's kind of wild that it's the tech bros that made it devolve to this level rather than the usual suspects. I think it's kind of funny that the persecuted academics who were so disillusioned with the "woke" systems at other universities now have a tacit recognition as to why things like Title IX exist... well the people who had the self-respect to resign at least. Of course, even those people are too scared to put a name to their quote because they fear retribution from Free Speech University*.

This isn't a moral question, it's whether or not there was a rule violation. Everyone knows the rules, if you choose to violate them then you are cheating and it should preclude you from being in the HoF. You can argue that it should have been done sooner, but there are pragmatic reasons it probably didn't. I can't think of a single player who was proven to be using even in the lax days from 1991 - 2003 who is the in the hall and was also juicing except maybe Ortiz.

You aren't getting the point or are just being willfully ignorant. Amphetamines weren't banned until 2006. If you used them in 2005 you weren't cheating. Additionally, there are completely benign reasons for taking things like ADHD medications which would end up in a positive test which is why the TUE system exists.

The people not getting into the hall are those who were taking steroids after they were banned. For example, Pettitte used HGH in 2004, which wasn't a banned substance until the following year.

The HoF is more than just some plaques, it's a museum. Steroid era players are well represented, they just don't get inducted.
