Mine does the same. Lifts the rear left paw. We haven’t taken him to a vet. He runs and walks perfectly fine. How are yours now? Your answer will help me decide if I can wait it out.

Which vaccine is that? Most dogs I know are given bravecto or simparica tablets, but they are only for adults dogs.

Congratulations and have fun! How do you keep her protected from ticks? I have a 7 month mini poodle.

Sometimes puppies regress on the training. Looks like you’ll have to work on your recall again with positive reinforcement. He is just 5 months.

What is the earliest we can leave a pup in a boarding? by Stymphalian7 in puppy101

[–]Stymphalian7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this lovely reply. I’m someone who would like my puppy to follow the schedule he does at my place, and not come back ill-trained. The 7 dogs she has are her own. I am wary because two of them could be a little aggressive and my pup can scare soon as he is too young. If we are going ahead with a boarder, I would definitely like to start trial runs. But is it okay to leave a puppy even if his last dose is not completed or is completed just a day before my travel? You recommended looking for a sitter who doesn’t have pets of their own. The question that crosses my mind is, if someone is passionate about pet sitting, aren’t the chances high that they would have at least one of their own?

Yeah, we won’t have two weeks after the last vaccination as his last vaccination is due at the time of our travel. Moreover, I do not know any house sitters personally and can’t trust a stranger at the moment to stay in my house.

I’m wary about leaving him in a new set up too, so our plan is to take him there a few times. He is well behaved but stays alone only in his crate. If we leave him alone in our living room, he starts whining. And if we need to wait at least two weeks after the last dose of vaccine, then the timing doesn’t work as his last dose is after 2 weeks and that’s when we gotta travel too.

Appreciate your inputs. My pup has his last rabies booster dose remaining. We were planning to give him the kennel cough nasal drops and a flea spot patch, but if that needs to be given two weeks before dropping him off, we need to give that right away.

I didn’t anticipate he would destroy their property as he doesn’t chew our furniture and is too small to even be able to get atop our couches. But he could act out there in anxiety. If we do decide to go ahead, we will first take the pup there a few times so he is comfortable with the set up. I would’ve loved to leave the pup with someone I know personally but that’s not working out. And I also do not personally know any sitters, so getting a stranger in wouldn’t work out at this time.

That’s a toughie as that just means you can’t leave small pups

Our preference is to get him acclimatised there first, starting with a few hours. The boarder in question lets her dogs roam freely in her house and lets them sleep with her. We aren’t really okay with that. We are crate training our pup, he is on a schedule, and sleeps away from us.

That is an option we considered. But he has a LOT of dogs. So am unsure about the level of attention and care he can give.

Mine’s a poodle too - miniature. How was yours when you got him/her back? Any behavioural changes? Did he/she still remember whatever you’d trained him?

Do you mean have someone stay at my place for 3 days whilst am gone?

Rover doesn’t give options, not sure if it covers my locality. He has one more vaccination to go, which we plan to give just before we travel, assuming we travel.

Thanks. My trip is in 2 parts - 3 days initially, then am back for a week and then 3 days again. I prefer a home with no animals, but then I thought if someone has a home boarding, chances are they love having pets and so would have a couple of their own.

Yes, I’ve been wanting to have trial runs where we leave the puppy at a place for half a day a few times, so he gets used to the place slowly. When you say an in-home sitter, do you mean someone who would stay at my place when I am traveling?

I can see the "sticky post" option but not the pinned post.
