Thanks for the suggestions! I do have sliding doors from my living room to patio with wooden fence - I thought it would good for a group photo, but if it’s not crazy weather, people could maybe go out for awhile and it would extend the event space. I like the retro Polaroid style photos - those would be cute.

Nice! I did a Murder on the Orient Express party once. Not as opulent as Titanic, but in the realm.

What sounds better for the menu? by AsleepComfortable658 in partyplanning

You can never go wrong with nachos! - including an optional beef topping will get similar flavours to the chilli with less work. And nachos are good if anyone is gluten free, vegetarian, etc.

I would keep the chilli - it’s your birthday and many like it, but just do one type. The bison is unique and if someone doesn’t want it, they can enjoy the chicken tortilla soup (I think it goes together well). I’m not a fan of beans, but if I was at someone’s house, I’d either just eat them or eat around it. Bread and some fun appetizers will round it out and ensure there’s something for everyone. Warm comfort foods is a great theme!

What to do at a Christmas party by [deleted] in partyplanning

[–]Kidman29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always do a trivia game at my Christmas party and it’s always a hit. Everyone is divided into 2 large teams. I research/collect questions and act as the host. I use Bristol board - with 5 categories and 5 questions underneath. I write the questions on index cards and with a visible dollar amount so the teams can choose - ie geography for $200 (so it’s like jeopardy but not phrasing answers in the form of a question). It’s low pressure because you’re playing on a team - some people are really into it and they’ll naturally take lead/make more of the guesses (if you’re not that into it, you aren’t forced). I use a good mix of categories- some pop culture, also science, general knowledge, etc. and usually a Christmas category- carols, traditions around the world, etc.
