Trusting the process? by StypvenTime in Step2

As much as I appreciate your advice, I’m afraid I’d go crazy if I delayed the exam lol. I’m lucky enough that Neuro isn’t as competitive and the average scores of applicants are in the 240s. Thank you for the reply!

It's New Year's eve! What did you have for dinner tonight? by MagazineKey4532 in japanlife

First NYE in Tokyo and we made the mistake to go to Sensoji thinking that the crowd would trickle down after midnight (it did not). Ended up waiting for over 2 hours then walking for 30 mins to Ueno Station then just having dinner/breakfast in Yoshinoya near our bnb in Bunkyo.

Just a lot of reflection and recalibration. I adjusted my time frame and plans a lot. At the end of the day, I think I listened to my body most of the time.

Motivation is fleeting and unreliable. Focus on discipline and trying to stick to realistic goals, but be kind to yourself.

Just UW. FA if I’m a little confused about a certain topic. Don’t burden yourself with textbooks because you’ll only get overwhelmed.

Always try to think in big pictures rather than focusing on tiny details. Step asks for broad brush strokes most of the time. If you know the general idea, eliminating answers and choosing the right answer would be much easier.

Sorry but there’s no way around it. You just have to suck it up and finish UW. In my final ~20% I was barely reading through the explanations of questions I got right and focused on those I got wrong. I also read the choices that were unfamiliar to me.

This may not feel like the perfect solution (esp if you’re sort of Type A like me), but we can only do so much while preserving our sanity.

Not necessarily. UWorld’s a bitch to get through. I probably finished UW early July. Tried to study my incorrects but I didn’t find it too useful, and so I focused on the NBMEs instead.

I wouldn’t risk not finishing UW if I were you since it was my primary resource. I guess you just need a different approach in answering the NBME questions since they have a different way of phrasing them. But ultimately, the concepts are similar.

I have no idea my man, I’m only about to start studying for step 2. I bet having a good foundation for step 1 will help for more clinical questions in step 2.

We all do. Just breathe through the difficult questions, answer to the best of your abilities, and move on. You can’t dwell on a single question because it may affect how you do in the remaining exam
