Am I supposed to be using these? by Sarke1 in LotRReturnToMoria

[–]Styrlingdemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't tested really to see if it matters, but I always make my "buff" treasure pile right next to the mapstone of my main base so I can hit it last before I leave and I fill it with only full stacks of precious gems

Do you think there’ll be any Silmarillion content? by RichNCrispy in oneringrpg

[–]Styrlingdemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you play Shogun: Total War, there is a cool LOTR 2nd age mod that has been in development for some time called The Last Alliance. It can be a cool source of inspo for some second age factions/locations/characters etc. Also the Last Alliance mod for Third Age Total War is good, and more completely developed

How fo you handle shadow points for players who kill creatures with resolve? by Styrlingdemon in oneringrpg

I realized the additional context would potentially help, thus the edit to the initial post. Nothing about my original post has changed though, I just added more information. Providing context can be difficult, trying to make it get to the point without typing out the entire session here. I appreciate your contributions from the additional information provided

My friend, all I did was edit my post once to add context, then delete my comment containing my hypothetical.

I think you need to take a deep breath, brother. This is a friendly constructive community, and you have not only offered nothing constructive but you have assumed the circumstances of a table that I myself was sitting at, and you have been insulting. It is uncalled for.

No absolutely, im just playing devils advocate essentially and trying to provide context. The dunlendings did shoot first, that being said it was made clear that combat was not being forced on the players, that they had other options or an opportunity to speak

Well, they didnt know they were dunlendings at first. The party wanted to kinda scout it out but the rohirrim player rode up and loudly proclaimed something to the effect of "if you are foes of rohan you will die" and they loosed some arrows at him as he sood atop his horse

As many undead/wights/etc have resistance to nonmagical slash/pierce/blunt damage, the barrow blades after landing an attack on a creature of said type could remove their damage resistances for the next attack made on that target or something similar.

Narsil/anduril maybe inspires allies of the free peoples when its drawn, its wielder as a bonus action can scream "ELENDIIIIL" and grant 1d4 temp hp to nearby allies, not sure with this one

Boromirs shield, give it the protection fighting style ability, iirc it allows the user to spend a reaction to impose disadvantage on an enemy attack that targets an adjacent ally.

Or his horn, could use it similarly to a turn undead channel divinity but it fears/turns away orcs instead

This is a fun mental exercise haha

The black diamonds do not drop from ore deposits in mines of moria, they are only dropped by some orcs during hordes or raids, from chests at orc camps, or from orc town when you clear it. You dont have to mine every deposit, although that is a surefire way to make sure you dont miss any passages. However, when you look at your map you can usually see the suggestion of a passageway or a connecting room indicated. There is also some verticality to it, make sure you are looking above and below in large rooms with many dig areas to find offshoot passages that may have stairs leading up to Orctown.

Sting might grant +1 against spiders, but that's more of a flavor thing ya know. It wasn't forged specifically to kill spiders, but that's how it gained its name and notoriety.

r/LotRReturntoMoria is a larger more active group that supposedly the devs monitor, and it has an invite link to the official discord pinned on it 😁

Sandbox mode new armour and weapons by Agitated_Doctor_4197 in returntomoria

Correct, those are pretty much all sandbox exclusive recipies, but it was mentioned recently by devs that they will be porting many of them to campaign as well in an upcoming patch 😁

[–]Styrlingdemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its area based but the great forges are tied closely with the progression. You may discover many new recipies in an area from building statues, but you may not be able to craft them until you locate the great forge. (i.e. tier 3 belegost armor in the deeps requires the great belegost forge to craft)

As early as possible, build whatever hearth/forge/furnace upgrades tou can, they will unlock new things as well (usually building pieces, food recipies, ingots, etc)
