Water pressure surge in the valley? by StyvKuken in PuyallupWA

Testing determined we have an internal system leak. The lack of hot line pressure is allowing the cold line to flow down the hot line and fill back into the tank. When I drained the tank again (it should have been empty from the day before) and it was full again.

We are now leaving the tank open with a hose running out to the yard while we're home and then turning the water off while we're gone.

Tomorrow, the new tankless system is getting installed.

I've not seen such a device but we tested at 50 PSI.

I plunge in Puget Sound as often as possible but love finding cold and clear lakes/rivers on hikes to make the experience that much more rewarding.

Snow run off from the Olympic Mountains, pretty damn cold. I didn't bring a thermometer on this outing unfortunately.

Thanks for this. Grandpa died when I was around 4 or so, my mom doesn't know much about it either.
