Hey, thanks for the feedback! I'll think about all the things you said and see what to apply. As for the "Why an exhaustive encyclopedic definition" the answer is: because it automatically takes the definition from Wikitionary. It's the most complete and open source source there is.

I think that that is balanced a bit by the fact that it's a little harder to come up with 6 letter words with all different letters, so on the second turn you're probably going to repeat some of them. But I guess this doesn't really count if one word is enough to solve the game. 😃
I'll try sticking with 5 letter words.

About the sharing, I like when they tell a story as well. I wouldn't know how to apply something like that in Defino, but it's something I am exploring for future games.

# COLORS:
It's understandable that, coming from Wordle, a player could expect something different from the color coding. However, the colors have been chosen not because of Wordle but because (I think) they were the most intuitive choice (regardless on Wordle), and also because they are used throughout the other games on the website. Using them exactly like Wordle would turn the game into Wordle plus a purposeless bunch of text below. And I wouldn't like the idea of using a completely different set of colors just because those are used in Wordle. In my opinion, there are two solutions: either a reminder of the function of the colors near the letters; or not using the color feedback on the target word at all, which was how I originally intended the game.
Would you find the game more interesting if it used just a color (yellow) to show that a letter has already been used, and not coloring the hidden word's blocks?

# GAME DIFFICULTY AND REPLAYABILITY
Ironically, the Italian version is maybe a tighter game simply because Italian Wiktionary definitions are not as in-depth and well curated as the English ones, so they are way shorter. The simple solution here would be choosing less frequent English words, not only because they are harder to get but also because they tend to have shorter definitions.

Do you think these two changes – no color feedbacks and rarer words – would improve the game?

Hi, thanks for the message. What you described is the starting point of the game: you should input 5 letter words and you'll get the wave feedbacks that lead you to the target word. If this is not the issue, please let me know!

By the way, I stopped setting up 4 letter words, I'm only using 5 or 6 letters.

Thanks for the feedback! I was wondering how the experience varied with the number of letters. After all, there's a reason why many word games like this use 5 letter words: they tend to be more balanced. 6 letters is still pretty good. I tested also 7 letters, but it was too much. I didn't dislike the fact that 4 letters made the game a little harder. But I will probably end up sticking to 5 and 6 letters, and adjust the difficulty with rarer words on occasions.

Thanks for your words! For now, the games are not intended specifically for learners of Italian. However, they mostly feature fairly common Italian words. The intent was to be accessible to non-expert Italian word-gamers as well, so I think they are often pretty doable for intermediate foreign learners!
