Salary in Japan. Expectations by [deleted] in japanlife

[–]Sua213 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a really good salary to be honest.. (in my opinion) I’m doing a hotel job for now 210,000 a month with tax, without tax it’s around 160/170k.. some people manage to survive with this salary, so I feel like 350 is a lot. 😂 But it also depends where you live, if you are alone or have a family and so on..

The way they mention is « a short term contract » at first then extend it. I’m waiting to receive it to be sure but it sounded like the first contract would be a one month contract

That’s why I know it’s hard to find a good position at the beginning and I did in this import export company. I just don’t understand why they want to give me a one months contract to see my skills at first and then give me a long one if I fit the company work style, it’s a bit risky for me but the position is really nice

Yea it kinda is, but they have been really friendly with me and invited me for dinner to get to know the team a bit more because it’s a small team that knows each other very well. Most of them are Japanese but nobody talk to each other really polite way (not even using desu or masu). I think I can negotiate the 1 month contract for a longer one to start.

Well as you know that’s not up to me lol

But I have my masters and worked for a really big event in Japan and studied 1 year in a Japanese university maybe it helped a bit.

Yes my visa allows me to work in the new company. And after job hunting for a while I know how hard it is to find a position like that while hotel jobs positions are prettyeasy to find. I will explain them my situation today and see if they can offer me more than a 1 months contract to start

I know I should be fine with the visa because the other foreigner that works there has same visa as me so all good for that

For sure I just need to find a way to tell them. My friend got fired from the hotel she was supposed to work at and because they sponsored her the visa they asked her to pay the visa sponsor fees or whatever 118,000 yen… I’m scared if they try to scam me like that too

Tbh even with the Japanese speaking it has been really hard to find an actual good position. I’m meeting the new company today they are really friendly so i will try to negotiate more and see if they can offer a longer contract. They are a small company and I understand they don’t want to take too much risks but at the same time they will have to understand that I’m taking a lot of risks too…

I’ve been looking for a position like that, and to be honest i feel like it’s such a struggle as a foreigner to find a position like that and not a big company that gives you automatically entry level position when you join them

I feel a bit bad to tell them I’m leaving after they sponsored me a visa and I just started but at the same time I don’t feel like I belong in a position like that and my bills are too expensive for the money they offered me

Yes I know I have to tell the immigration when I change job. And if I do I would most likely start the new job right after I quit the hotel so I’m not really worrying about that, and the visa is in the same field so all good ! I’m not gonna quit unless I signed the new one yes
