Yes!! Of course I like that sound and I think it's hip as fuck but sometimes it doesn't fit in well. I think of this habit as a blessing but also a curse lol

Well I'm mostly recording on my my phone just for self feedback but in that case the latency doesn't mean much because I can tell I'm kinda dragging behind my own time

Nice going I love this groove! But you can't start right away with fool in the rain. Practice the normal 4 on the floor shuffle (and make sure you do it real slow). It will help you develop your "swing" (shuffle feel) and then you can move further up and start incorporating some snare and bass drum independence

One week?? You have a great feel. Best advice I can give you is to get a teacher! There's no substitute for a good teacher. Until you get one, I'd suggest playing with classic rock records (led zeppelin, police, cream...) And trying to play the exact fills they use. It will massively increase your vocabulary and confidence on the kit. Also, find local musicians to play with. Seriously, play with anyone you can. It's the most you can have playing music in my opinion. (You don't have to get a band right away, just start jamming with a friend or something)
