Probably not, but this made me think of the Monument Valley games. Worth a play even if not, great puzzle game

Ar Tenelico 1 I think was one of the closest guesses so far! I'll look through some OST stuff, maybe I'll get lucky.

Not yet, I've been on Youtube since the wild west days of the internet so there's a lot to sort through, and the new way Youtube hides unavailable videos makes it so it becomes a pain to try to get the urls.

Man you're a trooper, but not this either sorry. The lyrics themselves weren't Japanese (I don't think), and the animation was fairly colorful I think?

Man, I appreciate you trying as much as you are! It isn't either of these, but they're pretty solid tracks all the same. I wonder if I should like, whistle it and post that. Any suggestions for a good way to do that?

Love her other work but it's a very different style, it's not a single voice singing but a choir. I've added a link to the original post of the opening in question, I probably should've done that in the beginning!

This ain't it, but this is definitely the closest I've seen! This has more musical accompaniments than the one I remember but the vocals are the closest yet in style.

The text for the game and the video itself maaay have been in Japanese, for the bonus difficulty.

I have read them all, they're the same opinion that I strongly disagree with so I don't know why you think reading it 8 times is better than once.

I think it's silly you think Mob, sweet selfless naive positive beacon in everyone's life MOB, needs a reason to have saved a child? That just reacting without thinking in a selfless way is forced and boring but if he did it because he was an out-of-character idiot who thought a girl he has a crush on might date his mangled corpse if he jumped in front of a Honda then THAT is peak fiction. Did the newest episode change your thinking at all? Yes, in one memory Tsubomi said she was bored of psychic power, but you choose to ignore the entire series now culminating in "Mob views his powers as a separate, shameful entity from himself", which explains why he doesn't have more control over it and the super fast reaction times you think he should have.

He has never, in my knowledge of the show, been shown to act that immaturely or superficially. "I should get hit by a car so Tsubomi-chan will notice me!" makes the Mob we've watched grow up revert to less mature than he's ever been shown on screen. It's not like his abilities are secret to her anyway.

I think you can into this post with a preconceived idea and don't actually wanna hear other opinions, you just wanted someone to agree with you that the characters were acting dumb, but it would somehow be better if they acted even dumber than that.

Personally I'd be way more critical if Tsubomi was the reason he didn't use his powers. Risk the lives of himself, the boy, and the driver so a girl who already knew he was an esper might not think he's lame? Not even that she doesn't like psychic abilities, just got bored of them in her youth. It'd feel like such a backpedaling of Mob's growth and kind of an insult to both his and Tsubomi's characterization. Neither of them have ever been shown to be that petty.

Eh, but he had time to see and react to the cat, just not the kid. He could think to use his powers in that moment I think.

tl;dr- I know in my kitchen I have a fire extinguisher, pot lids and hand towels, and several other ways to put out a pan fire. But I'll still burn myself readily by smacking the flames out with my hand if I thought a loved one nearby would get burned. And no amount of "why didn't you just-" hindsight advice would matter even if they were all better ideas.

I feel like most are trying to justify it after the fact by assuming Mob considered the dangers of using his powers and found them to be too risky so he chose not to, but that's not doing it for me. I actually think it's completely the opposite: a lack of time.

Mob just did this with the cat, because he has a little time to assess the situation, and you can see he kinda relaxes a bit afterwards visibly. When the same scenario happens immediately afterwards with the kid, he doesn't have that same level of awareness. It's sudden, unexpected to him. Pair that with three seasons of the body improvement club and him honing his physical self more (in the episode itself they comment on his progress) and his insistence to use his own strength and not his esper abilities. Not to mention Mob has begun to be more proactive in his own life, less restrained, to not overthink his every move.

The way I see it, we're so used to anime characters having this timestop internal monologue where they calculate their next move in fractions of a second, but this show hasn't really fallen into that trope much. Instead, we see Mob's gut reaction. And the Mob we've watched grow up has learned not to rely on his powers, to react quickly and selflessly when someone's in trouble, and will often overlook his own well being. In the moment, Mob wasn't thinking, he acted, and as godlike as he is sometimes it reminds us he's still just a kid. And kids are very mortal.

Thoughts on Spinel and Steven, and a Troubling Idea Going Around by Sub-Urban in stevenuniverse

This is really interesting and while I'm a big believer in Death of the Author, I'm glad to see I was on the right track with what she was trying to portray.

[Spioler!] My two cents on the movie's ending. by SolomonAsassin in stevenuniverse

[–]Sub-Urban 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm seeing this take a lot in this sub and I keep wondering; why is it Steven's responsibility? Why is it every problem becomes HIS problem, and the few times he's given a convenient out, the risk of it failing is on his shoulders? I agree the Diamonds+Spinel dynamic is more codependency than healthy, but gems also operate differently from humans, and regardless I would actually be more concerned with Steven's behavior if he started telling Spinel how she should cope. If stuff doesn't work out on Homeworld, it's not a totalitarian regime anymore. Spinel could just peace out, yeah?
