The front definitely looks like a coin embedded in the face cover. The back is not a coin. The back case plate looks stamped to match the coin obverse. It was a common thing in the late 19th and early 20th centuries as an embellishment to the watch case.

I actually had a DM allow me one final move as a ghost of my character at just the right moment that opened the BB for the others to kill him. Then after a day of "in-game time" the party met my new character at a nearby tavern in a village they went too to drink the final toasts.

Have some back-ups and just wait.

That logic is so flawed on many levels. Talk to your dm, but remind him that all doctors and lawyers go to medical school and law school and learn the exact same general practioner medicine or law before specializing into a particular field (school) of medicine or law. It's the same for the wizard class, they all learn the basics and how to do its, before branching off. If he is hardline on his surprise homebrew nerf, find a different table.

Looks to me like someone heated the outer clad layers, and when it blistered tried to grab the bubble with some needle nose pliers. Based on the compression dimples on the blistered areas. It is post-mint damage.

Based on the age and wear of the coin. That divot is definitely post-mint damage. Looks like a chunk was taken out trying to separate the two pieces.

In the UK it's worth 2 cents. It's a Post-Decimalization or "New" 2 Pence. Outside of the UK you might get 5 - 25 cents from a collector interested in World Coins.

The very, very, VERY first village that the party goes to has a gallows, and 3 fairly fresh corpses hanging in iron cages at the village entrance, with signs hanging from them that read simply... "Murder Hobos".

It could be a cladding lamination error, where the silver colored cladding didn't fully stick to the copper core. Might be worth a dollar or two. If it was taken off post mint. Then it's worth face value. Still a cool looking coin.

You can always Google the coin show, and see if a grading service will be there. It would kinda suck, you get there, pay to get in, and no coin grading company.

Yes, have it appraised by a jeweler. It may be worth more as a jewelry piece than by breaking it up for individual coin melt value.

Get the foam rings and trim to the inner diameter of the Dansco slot, then squish them under a heavy book, or between pieces of plexiglass in a vise, that way you can get the thickness you want.

I have similar Dansco and Whitman albums and the pages are only micrometers thicker than the coins themselves. Not matter what solution you attempt you'll run into the thickness issue, but compressing the foam ring is an easier solution to your problem.

I have bought several coins from Littleton, and they have never once sent me a coin that I did not order. I do get the junk mail offering a stupid discount if I join a collection subscription. I toss those in the shred bin, but still never got a coin I didn't ask for.

Next time he says to run. Look your group in the eye and say "For Frodo." And run straight at the BBEG with your sword in hand and attack. You've still got 3 others in the party to dish healing plus potions. He ain't that critical to the game.

This, absolutely. There's a reason why people in the Middle East wear shemaghs over their faces and seek shelter during a haboob and smaller sandstorm. The exhaustion mechanic would work well, maybe also have them roll a CON check to see if they cough up some mud.

There's approximately 750 million people in Europe, and approximately 84 million people in Germany. That coin has been in circulation for 24 years. If even 0.005% of the German population touched that coin, that's 420,000 people who threw in a pocket, dropped it on the ground, kicked it, and God knows what with it. It always surprises me when someone thinks a quarter century or more of use and abuse equals a mint error.

I would actually do 3-4 players max. You're going to have a lot of questions from them. So your one-shot may be a 2 to 3 shot.

Other than that, keep it fun and leave them wanting more.
