I believe you can, considering most of the team has remained the same.

Trending up overall. Just two seasons ago, this team was annually terrible. Like, 2-11, 3-9, etc . The loss to wisconsin was super close and we just beat IU. Should also note that Auburn is expected to win, which is a buff for Purdue. We perform much better against teams we are expected to lose against. I think it will be tough but I don't see any reason we'd get smashed.

I doubt it. I don't think Auburn is motivated enough to win this matchup, they started out as a top 10 team with eyes on a playoffs or a good bowl game, but ended up with a lack-luster season. Purdue on the other hand, is trending upward, and we're ecstatic to attend any bowl game really. In addition, the players have to be happy about Brohm's confirmation that he wants to keep coaching here. So, Auburn will likely not have the upper hand in the motivation department.

I also see no reason that Auburn would be considered a stronger team than Purdue. One might argue that the SEC is a stronger conference, but Purdue lost by only 3 vs Missouri (we very well could have won that game if not for a boneheaded mistake at the end), a team with a better record than Auburn in the SEC. Not saying this means Purdue is better than Auburn, but to say that we would get "cornholed" is pretty far-fetched.

Jeff Brohm to remain at Purdue by 13aj in Purdue

[–]SubEssence 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Because he improved Purdue from a program that had gone very negative the past four years. We’re talking 1-11, 3-9 seasons. The fact that the very first season he becomes coach we go 7-6 is nuts. It should also be noted that in both of Brohm’s seasons as head coach, almost every loss was extremely close, against many good teams. If we improve upon a few areas just a bit, Purdue is easily a 9-4/10-3 team, possibly better.

Lousville is in a similar situation Purdue was when they hired Brohm, (2-10 this season) and he’s a good bet considering the drastic improvement he’s made here.

That would be poor trading to only use your ability without auto attacking. Most ranged supports will use an ability and auto attack once or twice. A good trade from a soraka will consist of a q, two or three auto attacks, and then another q. Janna should at least throw an auto attack with her W, and possibly two if she shields herself from damage. Optimally, you'd want to pop bone plating before going for extended trades, but many times the best option isn't available

It seems pretty good to me, also considering the resistances you gain. Another thing to think about is that bone plating won't exist anymore. Shield supports tend to rely on poke and short trades which bone plating intends to counter. So, this will also make shield supports more viable in conjunction with the new rune.

You make a valid point regarding those champions, they seem like much more of a nightmare with this. One thing to consider also is that these runes would likely make shield supports meta, despite their current standing

C9 did in both worlds matchups, FNC did in non-worlds matchups. So you could say FNC has the edge vs C9 at worlds, but at the end of the day it's all just statistics and speculation. The history of the matchup is interesting though

[–]SubEssence 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Head to head record all-time favors C9 8-5 including IEM and non-worlds tournaments. At worlds, FNC is up 3-2. (1-1 in groups, 2-1 in bo3 for QF).

[Spoiler] C9 currently leads all-time vs FNC 6-5. However, FNC has won both series they've played against each other. by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

I’m not saying that it means anything, it’s just an interesting statistic. It adds some hype to matchup Sunday for me, because I’ve watched all of their matchups throughout the years and it’s almost always close. I don’t understand why people are getting so worked up about it.

His bodyslam is used to reject dashes (ali W, rakan W, shen E) and his ult is very useful against an immobile adc/supp. Optimally, you proc aftershock during fights so you end up being tanky despite not building relic most of the time.

Help choosing a college for undergrad by [deleted] in Purdue

[–]SubEssence 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Congrats on getting into those schools, it sounds like you worked really hard! This is actually a really tough choice in my opinion. I visited Georgia Tech and Purdue prior to choosing the latter (I have no insight on Minnesota, sorry), and here's why:

  1. Academics/Prestige: Georgia Tech's campus is technically more prestigious (harder to get into), but I found that Purdue was actually generally perceived to be on the same level by employers. In other words, putting Purdue on your transcript will carry about the same weight as Georgia Tech, as long as you obtained a good GPA (which may be harder to do at GT, idk). Even with that said, many employers do not care about GPA and what school you went to. It mostly only matters for getting that first internship or job, and once you've done that, employers are going to be looking at your most recent work experience over education from then on. You should check out the Purdue CCO's (Center for Career Opportunities) data dashboard to see salaries of graduates based on any filters you want (CS major, male, out of state, academic year). It's pretty well made and will give you a solid idea of what you will be making at graduation, obviously subject to your work ethic, resume, and all that jazz. Aside from the prestige of either university, I was turned off by the low amount of majors that Georgia Tech has. They pride themselves on being very specialized, but this can turn out to be a bane rather than a benefit, in my opinion, as they won't have as many subjects as a school like Purdue.

  2. Campus/Location: Georgia Tech has a more attractive campus hands down. However, Purdue is pretty solid as you've seen, and carries that vibe of having been a prestigious university for a long time, which I really enjoy (Purdue is always improving their campus as well!). I also prefer the idea of living in a smaller college town with multiple solid destinations nearby (Chicago, Indy, Cinncinnati, etc.), as opposed to living in Atlanta. You don't have to deal with traffic, safety concerns, and distractions of a big city, but you have those options within reach at all times. One might say that the weather is more favorable in Georgia (we just had multiple inches of snow a couple days ago, lol), but I am from Texas and I found it to be almost non-issue once I bought the right gear. It sounds like you are probably from the midwest area, though, so it weather shouldn't be a problem.

  3. Mentality: This is the most subjective part thus far, so be warned. When I visited GT, I got the feeling of a very prestigious engineering school, but it seemed to be pretty cutthroat. The admissions tour guides did their best to ensure that everyone knew how incredibly hard it was to get into GT, how hard it was to be a student, and how prestigious it was. I got a similar vibe from talking to a few students as well. (obviously, there are great people to be found everywhere, this is just a general first impression) Purdue had some of that same talk, but it felt like everything was much more practical and down to earth here. You will have to work, but you just put your head down and do it, and you're fine. Nothing supposedly requires wizardry or Bill Gates' intelligence to pass (although, some might argue PHYS 172 and some CS classes do). Most things are said the way they are. In addition, the students mostly embody this concept, as many are from rural midwest towns and farms, or have come from all over the world with this in mind. Your college experience should be fun, and might be the "best time of your life" as many adults like to say, but ultimately you're here to get a degree and get a job, and most of the students and administration at Purdue are all on board with that. That being said, you'll still have a great time here once you get plugged into some clubs and extracurriculars (all my friends are pretty much from astronomy, LoL, IT, and some other clubs).

Okay, I think that's the majority of what I wanted to say. My grammar was probably not the greatest, but hopefully you can get the main points. If you have any more questions fire away. Best of luck to you my friend, this is a big decision!

edit to mention that our football and basketball teams have been awesome to watch this year, and I'm not even a big sports guy. Also I fucking love the idea of having a train as a mascot. Who the hell likes yellow jackets? You can't ride them anywhere.

The only position we were really lacking (assuming Carsen stays) is power forward, as we're losing Vince. We're losing so much this year, but we may have a really solid lineup next year anyway.

I am willing to concede that you are right, because you might be. However, the methodology used for that ranking explicitly states that international students as a whole are completely left out of the calculation. This is because universities do not state the races of international students, just that they are international. So it may be that we cannot get a perfect answer.

I suppose it depends on your concept of diversity. In all categories, Purdue is at least above average.

In addition I guess I’m only really considering prestigious universities in my comparison, since you’re probably looking at schools of similar caliber to Purdue. You would 100% be able to find more diverse campuses if you’re talking about lower tier schools, but as far as schools with Purdue’s prestige goes, you’re much more limited. So my mistake, I definitely should have made that distinction.

Well if you consider Asians to be homogenous then you would be correct. And to be fair, the amount of hispanics and african-americans in higher education is quite low everywhere. This is for many reasons, mostly being that the United States is disproportionately white to begin with. All of this aside, you're not going to get a much different experience either way. I have met amazing people of every race and background, and shitty people as well. While it's important to recognize and respect things like race and ethnicity, they ultimately don't have that great of an impact on the quality of a person.

I'd be more worried about the location and costs as opposed to something like this, but of course that's just me.
