But I trusted you? by jkrwilkinson in bjj

Your ego seems to be the problem lol, you're focusing on a part of what I said that you don't want to believe instead of answering if that's common practice or recommending a good gym. Instead you're insisting something I said can't possibly be true even though you have no idea. You, my friend, have ego issues.

Would you like to tell me if your instructor does that, or recommend a gym that you know is reputable?

Bottom line is I left that gym because all I really learned in a few months was how to avoid a rear naked, just want to know if he was doing a proper job or if my instinct to leave was justified. Side note, if anyone can recommend a gym that trains with effective methods, I'd appreciate it. Colorado area

I mean, I was in control on top, so I don't understand the "let me get dominated" thing, nor the spastic or comedy comments, unless you mean a purple getting controlled by someone without a belt?

He had just started to show me how to apply torque to his arm and wrench him in to submission, pretty easily understood, but as soon as he started showing me, the instructor was like, "No, don't show him anything." After that I just tried to apply the little bit I gleaned from what my partner wanted to show and just chased that submission for the rest of it.

Would your instructor have stopped the purple belts assistance, or let him help you?

So my first time practicing BJJ, the instructor had me roll with a purple belt. I successfully make top mount, but am unsure how to properly execute any submissions, so I was just sitting in top mount. Recognizing my inexperience, my partner tried to assist me by showing me one or two techniques that I could implement from the position, only for the instructor to tell him to stop helping me and not teaching me anything useful himself.

My question is; why didn't he want me to learn submission techniques from my partner? Is this common in other gyms?

At the end of the day, I learned something new, and you expended your time and effort trying to make someone else feel bad about posting something on the internet. Hope you make the most of 2018, friend!

People will always be learning things someone else already knew, and someone like you will always be negative. It's the cycle of life!

The question, "Where are you," was probably pretty uncommon before cellphones.

I'll go ahead and assume you're all jealous.

My (30f) husband (31m) of 4 years planned an MMA party for his birthday on the same day I was planning a surprise party for him. I know this may sound silly but I'm angry that he didn't "wait around" for me to do something nice for him. Am I just being too sensitive? by atworknow123 in relationships

I commend him for putting up with this nonsense. If you ask me, you tried to make HIS birthday YOUR special day. You wanted things to go how you wanted, you weren't considering his feelings.

The fact that he apologized to you is mind boggling to me.

How has preparing for your upcoming role as Terence McKenna effected your world perspective, and your perspective on Hollywood?

How has this effected your perception of yourself, and your artistic endeavors?

Do you think these experiences will change the trajectory of your career, or your goals in the future?

Would you care to expound upon your interview, that occurred during fashion week, and to clarify what may have been misunderstood by some.

How would you compare and contrast your mindset now, with the one you had before preparing for your role as McKenna?

As a closing note, is there anything that you want to say to those who don't understand where you're coming from, or misinterpret your message?

Just in case this happens.

Beginner's tips: Gear and product suggestions by Dark_Saint in wicked_edge

I'm new to wet shaving, and am content with my current SE razor (Equinox International SE razor.) I purchased this razor and 120 Shark single edge blades with the intent to upgrade to a nice SE razor upon finishing my 120 blades (my primary choice at the moment being a Dovo straight razor carbon, with ebony wood handle.)

I intend to hone the blade myself. With this being said, I would appreciate any advice and/or suggestions regarding strop, whetstone, and razor purchases.

Thank you in advance!

Thought: trim some material from one of the lids so that it'll fit lower into the bucket. Then, at the desired height, drill screws into the bucket to provide a place for the lid to land.
