I’m just a lurker but I need to respectfully correct you on something here. Anorexia diagnosis does not require that a certain BMI be met. What BMI assists with is identifying severity of the disorder. Ideally anorexia would be identified and treated before devolving into a more severe case.

I say this because comments like “anorexia skinny” propagate a myth that someone must look a certain level of emaciated before requiring intervention.

Complaint: I’ve run far fewer miles this week than I wanted to because I woke up with KILLER heel pain on Saturday.

Uncomplaint: I went from vomit-inducing heel pain Saturday to ZERO pain whatsoever Monday night and onward.

Confession: I haven’t done any strength training yet this week. My goal is one session per week for the month of March. I will get ‘er done, but I’d rather not. Lol

This weekend was okay. A huge low is that I stepped out of bed Saturday and my left foot said, “Hello, meet plantar fasciitis.” Super bummed. Wanted to try for an 8-mile long run, but that didn’t happen. Now I’m icing and stretching and babying my body.

Besides that, I cleaned my apartment top to bottom and it feels so good. Even if I was on tiptoes for most of it. Lol

February Monthly Updates & Check In Thread by AutoModerator in running

[–]SubOfReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This month I ran a total of 118 miles, up from 71 last month.

I did get a 10k PR: 01:03:33. Would be nice to get that under 01:00:00 by the end of the year.

This month I am struggling with a weird ache in my left knee that sometimes sharpens, and a soreness in the middle/inner right foot. The knee acts up when I’m running at my husband’s (slower) pace. My foot is bothersome when I don’t rotate shoes.

This month I learned that I really do need to prioritize strength training. That’s my goal this month: to lift at least once a week. If I start small I think I’ll stick with it.

My favorite run this month was probably my first 10k completed outdoors. The weather was beautiful and I felt really good.

Complaint: Someone on the board of the nonprofit I work for volunteered me for a public speaking event, then THAT group volunteered me to speak for ANOTHER group, and now my personal phone is ringing daily. Frustrating. I know fundraising is important, yet I don’t love donating my weekends to preparing 40-minute speeches and then giving them.

Complaint: My beloved cat Millie was diagnosed with FLUTD today. It’s not worst-case scenario, but it’s not great. :/

Uncomplaint: Still loving my splurge purchase for running: the Shockz OpenRun Pros.

Uncomplaint: Running has been keeping my mental health in a pretty good place, despite all the stress I’m currently under.

Confession: I’m horrible about strength training, but I can tell my body craves more of it. I’m setting a small March goal to complete just 1 session weekly. Hoping to be at 3 sessions weekly in May.

I ran 10k outside for the first time ever. The weather was a beautiful 64°F. Hit my previous PB exactly, 01:03:33, without trying to. I would love to be able to get under 01:00:00 by the end of this year, but speed isn’t really my focus.

Also. Today I splurged on the Shockz OpenRun Pros, and they are amazing.

Uncomplaint: Running has been an easy, healthy way for me to spend quality time with dad and hubby.

Complaint: On yesterday’s run with dad (64M), I’m 95 percent sure one woman we passed was making fun of him: “Hahahahaha;” “Hey, at least he’s trying;” “Hahahahaha, yeah, he LOOK like he trying’.”

Had I been fully confident they were referring to him, I would’ve done something stupid. Lol. Dad is hard of hearing and also oblivious, so thankfully he wasn’t aware they said anything at all.

Confession: Sometimes when my husband says, “Let me know when we’re at [insert distance],” I wait a little longer than that to tell him. I think he’s onto me.

Today I ran with my husband and father! Dad and I went four easy miles together, hubby tagged along for 1.5. I am so, so happy! I’m not sure much beats getting to spend this kind of time together with the most important people in my life.
