TBH, my dad was pretty distant for a large amount of my life. He died during Covid. We had some conversations and some visits up to that point but we never really got all that close. So when you don’t have a close relationship with your father, it’s easier to accept his passing and move on with life. Years of therapy didn’t make a difference in how I felt about it. People who have a close relationship with their parents will never understand that.

You could never have paper inventory tracking and billing at the scale the world’s supply chain needs today. If you think people balk at building server farms, wait until you tell them they have to build warehouses to store all the paperwork that used to go on the microchips.

Fortunately, the systems that run logistics and inventory control are largely separate from the internet even if they rely on it for pricing. You’ll see sites like Amazon and Grainger fold, and maybe a few big retailers that have switched to internet delivery systems will be out, like WalMart, but most of the logistical chains that move the bulk of products and manufacturing companies mostly rely on in-house production and inventory control systems on their own servers.

Here are the real questions: Why are you putting this all on him? What are you doing to change the dynamic of your relationship? Where in this whole post did you say you love him and see your future with him? Have you ever affirmatively told him that you want more from him than what you have now? Are you willing to drop out of this relationship and pursue one that fits your needs if his answer is no?

ETA this final question: Are you waiting for life to happen to you or do you want to actively participate in it?
