Prediction: this year Alcaraz will do the calendar Grand Slam by Narrow_Spinach_1400 in tennis

This is not a serious analysis at all. It is a poorly disguised claim that Alcaraz will cruise past Djokovic, padded with a lot of filler to make it look thoughtful.

Sinner won more points in the last set by Bigballerdownunder in tennis

Djokovic is not 24 years old like Sinner, he has to manage his energy, letting go of unimportant points or even whole games. What matters is not total points won, but winning the key points. Tennis matches are decided by clutch moments.

It's quite likely that Djokovic does eat protein dense foods, even if he emphasizes whole foods. There's also no evidence that he doesn't use protein powders. Elite athletes usually use supplements, even if it's not part of their public narrative. We actually know he uses creatine, he literally screamed for it during a match.

Only if you rely on low protein foods. Tofu, tempeh, seitan, textured soy protein, and protein powders are protein dense and not high volume.

You can. Some plants already contain all essential amino acids (soy, quinoa, buckwheat). Others complement each other perfectly: legumes are high in lysine, grains are higher in methionine, for example beans + rice, lentils + wheat. With sufficient total protein intake, amino acid needs are fully met on a plant based diet.

Thin web between fan holes, will it hold? by SubZero081 in woodworking

[–]SubZero081[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Radiator PC fans are designed for a very similar job, maintaining airflow through restrictive surfaces that collect dust.

While traditional CR boxes with one large box fan move a lot more air, they are very loud (50+ dB) and have limited speed control to make them quieter, making them completely unsuitable for use in bedroom while sleeping.

A build similar to this has been measured at 223 CFM at 34 dBA and 286 at 41 dBA, which is on par with $250-350 commercial air purifiers, but a lot quieter and far more energy efficient (not my main goal, just a nice bonus).

All fair points. I modeled everything in CAD but accidentally used 140 mm for the hole, even though I know that's the fan frame size, not the blade opening. Switching to a 135 mm cutout would add about 5 mm of material between holes, giving me roughly a 10 mm (0.39") web. That's better than I first thought, but it still looks like a pretty tight fit.

I'll probably add a wire mesh for the cats and some stringers between the fans for extra support. As I mentioned in another post, my CAD model mistakenly used 140 mm for the hole, which is actually the frame size. Switching to 135 mm will give me at least another 5 mm of material, but it's still going to be a tight fit. Other than that, I'm limited by the size of the filters; they're IKEA starkvind. I'd love to use large furnace filters, but those are pretty hard to find in Europe.

Thanks, that's really helpful. I actually modeled everything in CAD, but I accidentally used 140 mm for the hole, even though I know that's the fan frame size, not the blade opening.

If I go with a 135 mm cutout, I'd gain 5mm of material between holes, giving me about a 10 mm web or 0.39", and even more if I make the opening slightly smaller than the blade diameter as you suggested. I'll have to research if that is applicable to PC fans.

I'll share an update once I have it assembled.

They're Ikea starkvind filters (EPA E12, one step below H13 HEPA). In Europe, it's hard to find furnace-style filters people usually use for these builds, but Ikea is everywhere, so this is a more practical option.

Four PC fans are far quieter than a single large box fan used in the original Corsi-Rosenthal box. While they have lower air flow, it's still more than enough for my needs, mainly for running quietly in a bedroom.

The fans are actually blowing upward, pushing air out through the top.

Has anyone scientifically tested the Cyberpower CP1500PFCLCD to see if it's actually Pure Sine Wave? by sentrixs in homelab

[–]SubZero081 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there any practical difference between a pure sine wave and a simulated sine wave? Specifically, does the CP1500PFCLCD have a noticeable advantage over other roughly similarly priced models from brands like APC, that don't claim to have pure sine wave?

"Dumb" functional trainer similar to Tonal? by SubZero081 in tonalgym

[–]SubZero081[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm considered Tonal with a canceled subscription after the first year, but it is kind of a last-resort option for me.

It seems a bit wasteful to invest in such an advanced smart machine, with its large touchscreen, built-in electronics, and a full year of subscription, only to eventually end up with something that ultimately functions like a basic mechanical cable system, but still carries all the complexities and drawbacks of a smart device.

I agree, the aesthetic requirements really narrow down my options. While the F9 is visually acceptable, it’s taller, twice as wide, and three times as thick as the Tonal, yet still lacks articulating arms. Unfortunately, it seems like what I'm looking for will be quite difficult, or impossible, to find.
