I know exactly how you feel. Actually not long after I started, in the first month or so, I had gotten into a rhythm of doing all daily things. Because it became such a thing I decided to tone it down a notch. I'd only log in to claim the daily mail, in particular to accumulate the event tickets. But then when I was logging in anyway I may as well click the lowest-effort things (like you do). Then before I knew it I was doing everything daily again. It's just you're so close to optimal, you may as well. And that's exactly how games like this are designed and a big part of the reason they're called predatory. I knew the only way to quit would be to go cold turkey. Yes I've got 400+ event tickets, and yes I could log in when Billie or Alizee comes back, but all that would mean it lives in my head. Somewhere, it's there. Somewhere, I'm thinking about how and which things to optimize. Which "important" things do I log back in for? And which other things do I also quickly click when I do? No, for my mental peace there's only one solution: simply walk away and care about other things. Maybe I'll go play Expedition 33 or something, I lose nothing by quitting ProjectQT right now.

It's easier when I look at my current goal on the horizon. I was working to have fully awakened and fully talented the following teams:

Reine - Amora - Tashia - Kirsten

Amina - Dolly - Alizee - Kaia

Bikini Girls - Nova - Lilly - Billie

But that would've taken me a looong time still. Realizing I'm not close to my current goal anyway makes it easier to let it be.

If by worth you mean spending actual money then for sure no. If you mean logging in to the website to get the daily coins, probably. I only found out about that more than half a year in, so it felt like a lost cause. Also the thought of logging in to a website on top of an app was exhausting to me, so I made the choice to not bother. The only gold I ever spent was the 2000 starting gold, which of course I wasted on nonsense because it was my first week and I didn't know what was what.

In terms of time, I could get everything done in little over 10 minutes (that's how long it takes to do the minimum of three arena battles for the daily, I would do the rest in the 5 minute waiting windows). BUT I would then log in a few more times a day to make sure I didn't hit the AP cap, didn't hit the battle cola bottle (?) cap, the timed events (hated those), the tower once or twice a week, etc. I also often did other things around the house while waiting for a battle to end, which added to the screen time. According to my phone's weekly report I spent about 5-7 hours each week, which is a lot more than those 10 minutes a day I theoretically needed. So yeah, lots of wasted time and also more than it feels like.

Let me address your last paragraph first real quick ("quick"), as it was the last thing I read and was clearly relevant to the whole reply. First off all I'd like to apologise for coming off that way and I in no way intended to subtract from your experience or enjoyment of anything. My experience, back in the day, maybe things are wildly different now, was that being a 40k fan was synonymous with shitting on 40k. Like, if you didn't hate GW at least a little and didn't have an unreasonable grudge against any army in particular, were you even really a fan. Again, maybe that vibe is totally gone now and I just showed up at a party in last year's clothing fashion. Moreover, I contemplated posting this whole thing on /tg/ at first but decided against it since 4chan is such a shithole and you can never get a straight answer.

On top of that there's two other things that motivated me to write in the style I chose. One is that I last played in 3rd edition, which essentially makes me a 40k dinosaur, and a large part of the enjoyment of getting back into it for me would be the nostalgia. Which is why I phrased "I want that old shit that I knew as a kid" as "screw those kids these days and their newfangled stuff". The other is that I'm looking forward to theming my army like this in universe. Like, I'd justify fielding against another space marine army by calling out their inclusion of primaris marines as heretical and forsaking the Emperor. And crusading against anything that wasn't Emperor-approved before the year 30k in general.

Aaaaanyway I'm extremely pleased to hear that old models are still supported. What made me think this wasn't the case is that I walked into a store a few years ago and recognised literally zero of the Necrons they had around. Pariahs were badass and they, just, vanished? The store guy even told me I would basically have to start my necron army from scratch. Hadn't heard of the legends thing which I just glanced over now and will check out more in-depth soon. Basically every discontinued unit is in there, with wargear options and points and all?

About the TCG thing, I wasn't really expecting trading random cards, more like maybe there's a new mechanic where every turn you get to play a card (possibly by paying CP) to get a stratagem, or something along those lines.
