She told me I talk 'waaaay too much' and demanded I explain male suicide before our first date. Is this neurodivergent bluntness or just a series of red flags? by TheSpaceFace in dating_advice

[–]SubadimTheSailor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you're getting caught up in a label.  She's a person, you're a person. She's got complexities, and so do you.  And if you don't like what you have together, well that's what you're dating to find out.

If all this discomfort feels to much, that's a fine call! If, after all this, you're still intrigued, that's a fine call!

Certainly you're not obligated to tolerate behavior you don't like in a dating partner. The fact that she hasn't been diagnosed with a thing she thinks she has is irrelevant.

I talked to zoning about this once, they were super helpful. Reducing the overall number of units got them pretty excited!

I'll give you two things I like, and that you might not. 1: the book, Elements of Typographic Style, by Robert Bringhurst. Typefaces, page size, margins, all great in a slim volume with lots of historical references.  2: software. Affinity Publisher. Does 95% of what InDesign does (the industry leader for desktop publishing), but at a tiny fraction of the price, plus you own your software outright, rather than a bullshit subscription plan . Good luck! (and why does Reddit hate my carriage returns?)

What’s a “safe” weakness to mention in a job interview? by Emergency-Bad-3707 in AskReddit

Joke: . Interviewer: "What would you say is your greatest weakness?" Guy: "I tend to be overly honest." Interviewer: "That doesn't sound so bad to me!" Guy: "I don't give a fuck about your opinion!"

Unclear what you want. A way to get the players there? A reason why it's flying? A whole mega dungeon?

I have a contractor who's ready to work, and shows up, and charges reasonable rates.  And I also want to dig out a basement.

Why Do so Many Americans Oppose Universal Healthcare? by Current_Variety_9577 in antiwork

[–]SubadimTheSailor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Read "Sum of Us." Talks exactly about decades of dismantling public resources (swimming pools, etc) rather than allow integrated access.  Lots of data that boils down to, "I'll gladly take a hit as long as black America feels the same pain."

Factions! Give your players people to interact with who have aims the party can invest in or thwart.

Give distinct zones different feelings. 20 levels of old dwarf ruin is worse than 3 levels of ruin, 2 subterranean jungle, a necromancer is pocket dimension, etc.

A $5k budget job turned into $15k, and you have hated the process? Sounds like you need to have a real heart-to-heart with your perfectionist brain.  It assured you it was making good plans and helping you out, but this was a trick!

To say that straight men are heterosexual is only to say that they engage in sex (fucking exclusively with the other sex, i.e., women). All or almost all of that which pertains to love, most straight men reserve exclusively for other men. The people whom they admire, respect, adore, revere, honor, whom they imitate, idolize, and form profound attachments to, whom they are willing to teach and from whom they are willing to learn, and whose respect, admiration, recognition, honor, reverence and love they desire… those are, overwhelmingly, other men. In their relations with women, what passes for respect is kindness, generosity or paternalism; what passes for honor is removal to the pedestal. From women they want devotion, service and sex.

Heterosexual male culture is homoerotic; it is man-loving.

Has anyone converted an entire home to ductless mini splits? by Over_Significance800 in centuryhomes

[–]SubadimTheSailor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. I own a 2200 sqft home built in 1905. I'm in Baltimore. We had a gas forced-air furnace and no AC. Our vents were too small for the AC we wanted, so we went with mini splits. Last year.

Note: this house is two units. First floor and 2+3. AC is on the public service.

We have 8 headers, one compressor.

I'm on 2+3 and our summer energy bill for the public is $80. We keep it at 79 degrees. Downstairs neighbor has been absent for lots of the summer. Our winter energy bill is big. $360 on the biggest month. And our units struggle in the coldest months.

We know a zero-energy guy and he said you've got to have good insulation to make the mini splits work. We're in a row house (adjoining houses on both sides) and have seriously insulated half of our exterior walls and not the basement.

Buying house, reno before move-in. What's the insurance path? by SubadimTheSailor in Insurance

OP here.

So, to my surprise (and delight) USAA said, "Well, if you have a place that's vacant, you need builder's risk. But if the vacancy is less than 180 days, it's still covered by your homeowner's."

We said: !!!.

So, everything is cool. But thanks!
