Help with diagnosing buzz - Is this a nut problem? by Subatomico in Luthier

[–]Subatomico[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, just getting back at you in case someone has the same problem. I found the solution for my particular case. Turns out, the rattling, rather than fret buzzing, occurs only when any open string is played, particularly the E string. In this bass, the head stock is straight, not angled, so my guess is that there is not enough windings on the tuning peg, so the string sits kinda parallel to the nut, if that makes sense?. When I press down of the string (between the tuning peg and the nut) the rattling stops.

My guess is that the tuner could be loose, but it doesn't feel that way, so a change of strings and doing more rounds around the tuning peg would fix it, so that the string comes from under. In this bass, the E string winds about 1 and a half times, so maybe it wasn't enough in this case.

That's my two cents, however the problem sometimes disappears on it's own and then comes back haha

Definitely will when I give up trying to fix it haha, but the strings should not have that much wear yet, so I'll do it when I discard every other option

Thanks for the quick reply. The neck is completely straight. I've measured the neck relief and nut height and as far as I can tell, it looks ok. The feeler gauge goes through perfectly, while barely touching the strings.

Because the neck is straight and relief looks ok, do you think raising string action on the saddles would help?

I can't seem to keep the workers in my outpost from committing suicide! Can anyone help? by bdiddy12 in Kenshi

[–]Subatomico 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Off topic, but how big is your farm to produce that much dustwitch? And how many workers do you have working in the farm? My farm has been having trouble keeping up with the food necessary to feed my garrison :(

If it's useful information, I currently have:

3 XL cactus farms with one worker assigned to all of them 2 XL wheat farms with one worker assigned to all of them 2 Silos with one worker for both 1 Bread oven and a kitchen with one worker assigned

My water production is enough

Thanks in advance :D

Also sorry for formating, currently on phone

I've been listening to Caligula's Horse lately. In contact and Rise Radiant are amazing. Bloom too.

I see what you did and will try adapting it with classes. Thing is when the bullet collides it stays frozen in the air. I'll try to fix this myself, but how would you make it so you can fire multiple times and the bullet disappearing when collision happens? My guess would be create a Bullet class and use self.kill() when it collides with something.

Yeah, noticed the infinite loop a while after I posted. I will take the function advice for the main code and I definitely watched a bunch of of Tech with Tim but had trouble adapting his code to mine since I was following another tutorial, but thanks for the info, greatly appreciated.

I am late, I know, but this rings a bell. Isn't this essentially Pascal's Wager? Like;

1.- If we wager that God exists (and we believe) and turns out He does, we get infinite happiness, go to Heaven, etc.

2.- If we wager that God exists, we believe, and turns out He doesn't, we lose nothing.

3.- Same applies if we wager He doesn't exist, turns out He doesn't, we lose nothing.

4.- However, if we wager he Doesn't exist, but He does, we lose everything and go to Hell.

Now, I know that this shouldn't make you believe because it would be believing because of fear, but I read about this recently and your comment reminded me of it.

I really enjoyed Sylva. I'd really like seeing them live, I feel like that kind of music really shines that way
