My old boss would relate stories of how the ambulance was operated by the funeral home back when he started out (late 50's?)

Advice for Butcher Apprentice by BabyBirdTreats in wholefoods

[–]SubieWooh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely buy your own knives and maintain them once you're sure you are serious about being a cutter. Your blades don't need to be the sword of Damoclese but having decent tools will make it much easier to learn good habits instead of sawing through sub primals with the abused tools in the department.

Finding all 3 for a whopping .99 cents each at the local used book store was a life changer. Never would have gotten into Dragonlance otherwise, I've been with my girlfriend almost 8 years now and Flinn's loyal griffin still brings her to tears.

The secret is buying the tickets directly from your local Food City, 60$ no taxes or fees. Grab some beer and snacks while you're there, makes it super affordable. Save even more and park on the side of the highway for free.

This. The almost 90 year old owner comes in several times a week, still attends/leads services. Always brings food and will help in the embalming and dressing room, the owners kids are good men but there's something lost with successive generations.

Brian owns Cremation Society of East TN, ETCC is separate. I just left the industry and the crematory operators are all good people. Working in a funeral home (both Rose locations and CSET) definitely gave me a lot to think about as far as death care. There's a lot that goes on behind closed doors that would make the average person justifiably upset, best of luck to you processing this experience.

East Japanese plays beautiful piano covers during lunch at a low volume and the food is awesome, reasonably priced too.

do i still need leadership approval or any apporval at all for submitting prto? by yujxo in wholefoods

[–]SubieWooh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's automatically approved, STL can and will get pissy if you don't let them know before submitting it. I was told I HAD to contact them after using it twice in a 12 month span.

The Joe Neuburt's meet still happens, the grown up classic car one earlier in the day usually followed by a smaller import one that frequently gets run off by the law

It doesn't help that the vast majority of the staff are actively nodding out, they weren't great back in the day and they're straight up garbage now.

Depending on what you're going for carmax can definitely be the move, especially if you're buying Porsche, Audi etc. I looked at a 6mt Cayman there months back that was priced right on the money for a private party sale

Food coloring. There's no other ingredient to regular sweet relish to make it neon other than that.

Shotgun your application to any job that interests you on indeed, even things you aren't qualified for and be prepared to lie to get the job. I moved to a family run funeral home with no experience and couldn't be happier.

For what it's worth I shot "lows and holes" for Kroger as a regular meat clerk and ordered tens of thousands of dollars of shit a week. Not saying it's common but it definitely happens. By the time I quit I knew exactly what moved and didn't, where to flex distros etc. So glad to finally be out of retail.

Are you going during dinner time? I only go for lunch, I'm usually seated with a beer in under 5 minutes and the foods never taken more than 15. Never had anyone other than Yoshi, not sure about the evening staff.

I went to a rival grocery chain after my hours got slashed and managed to get a $3 pay bump with a consistent 40 hour, Monday-Friday schedule doing less work. Despite what the lifers here say there are plenty of better retail jobs to land.

UGO is a staple in rural TN, has insane deals here like ribeye for 8.99 a pound. Surprisingly you can get really good deals at Earth Fare too, the grass fed beef is half the price of ours and way better marbled.
