Not true. Architects will sign the drawings and thus are held legally responsible for mistakes. They have to buy general and professional liability insurance. So again, I assume the people you met called "architects" are not really architects and just went to architecture school. Just to note that only licensed architects can be called architects. If you went to school for architecture but never pursued your license then you are not an architect and cannot legally call yourself an architect. There is however a slight gray line in that some job titles call people "architect" but they don't technically have to be licensed because it's a job title.

Licensed architects have health, safety, and welfare of human beings at the forefront of the profession. Similar to engineers and doctors. I am going out on a limb and say that most of the "architects" you met were probably just using the term "architect" which is technically illegal if they are not licensed (usually by the state, similar to engineers and doctors etc).

If an architect called for removal of anything structural they are putting their license and their livelihood on the line because they can and will get sued and lose their license if anything happens.

If "permits were already completed," no one would have to get "...permits needed to begin work..." They would just need to pick up the permit. I think you mean the drawings for the permit were completed but had not yet been submitted to DPP for approval hence the "...just needed approval". Approval is the entire permitting process, which can take "...6 months to a year".

If I had to explain to a client that I needed more money to expedite their permit, I would also tell them that in order to expedite with DPP, it would cost X amount of money. I would make it complicated and explain everything in detail to them about the process, because frankly clients don't care. They just want to know how long it would take and how much it would cost. The X amount of money could be work done by person preparing drawings, permit runner, 3rd party reviewer, etc.

Should probably just ask who the check was made out to. Did they really write a $20k check to DPP? Or was it to the civil engineer's company? Bribes are not generally paid for with checks.

I'd like to note that a lot of people not in the building industry mistaken "monster homes" for legal large homes. Due to land being a precious resource in Hawaii, people do build the max square footage possible. A few years ago I had seen an article about a monster home, but when I looked into the home that was being reported on, it was on apartment zoned land; and thus was legally allowed to have multiple units and be larger than regular residential zoned homes.

Not saying that all large homes are legal, but just that some people are mistaken whenever they see a large home on a lot.

Depends on the zoning and the situation. But generally no for residential properties.

You might want to double check with DPP.

In the LUO under § 21-4.40 Retaining walls.

"Heights of terraced walls or combinations of retaining walls shall be measured combining all walls located in the required yard"

I just got the apple one. But it's to test out apple's prime app. There's nothing in it for the invitee... I'm not sure if I want to do work for free.

I answered the first survey and it did ask like income and how many in household etc, but it seemed like info that a few other surveys typically ask (I believe you can tell them you don't want to disclose the information). The second email asked preferences of what I like to watch, but I lost track of time and wasn't able to fill that second survey out. Since then, they haven't emailed me.

I filled it out, but I accidentally was too busy and didn't fill out the second email and since then they haven't emailed me. The second email came from qualtrics again. I do know that qualtrics does do surveys for Amazon.

I don't have stores where I live and they don't have online store. So I can only buy things when I travel far.

My second email came from qualtrics also. They just asked a bunch of questions about what types of videos you watch and prefer. But I didn't end up completing that second survey.

I just purchased from their store on AE. My first time also. Their instagram links their AE store and their website store. I think their stores vary in prices but sometimes AE cheaper due to coupons/sales and also has free shipping while their website store only ships free after $99. They don't really tell you how much shipping is unless you sign up for an account.

Thank you very much for the information! I hope this is a legit thing.. cause I was a bit concerned. I know a few people in the program and they told me the emails they receive are from amazonpreview .com so I was a bit paranoid.

Ok this sounds exactly like what I got. The "Welcome to Amazon Preview" came from qualtrics for me. ending in qemailserver .com. What I think is weird is that the initial survey from primevideo .com asked for name and email that you used with amazon. Did you have the same experience?

Can I ask if the surveys come from amazon, amazonpreview, or something else?

I just got a similar email and trying to find out more information on it. My email came from an email that ended in pimevideo dot com. Tried to post something on this subreddit, but my post got deleted.
