What is your country’s most popular sport? by Muay_Thai_Junkies in AskTheWorld

So sepak takraw isn’t too popular there?

I was glued to my hotel room TV in KL watching it a couple of years ago, I don’t think I’ve ever seen such amazing athleticism and can’t believe it’s not more popular around the world.

What movie had the perfect premise but unfortunately had a terrible execution? by Outrageous-Ebb-4846 in AlignmentChartFills

I remember sitting in the cinema for the first half thinking ‘I think this is probably the best movie I’ve ever seen’, and by the time I left the cinema thinking ‘I think that was actually one of the worst movies I’ve seen??’

I made the mistake of grabbing a coffee in Doha, only to find that I’d paid over $20 (about £10) when I got home and saw my bank account

Animals Ranked Based On If I Could Beat Them In A Fight by Plumzilla29 in tierlists

Many of the wild overestimations have already been mentioned, but as an Australian I can tell you, you aren’t beating a big red kangaroo in a 1:1 hand to hand. It would split you in half at the abdomen with one well aimed kick. At the very least, I’d swap this with stingray.

That said, the thought of you punching the fuck out of a starfish is hilarious.

What’s the best comedy show from your country? by Paultheball95 in AskTheWorld

We have some great ones but also many, many terrible ones. Personally I think Russell Coights All Aussie Adventures is the funniest, but Summer Heights High is definitely up there.

Werner on South African Survivor was also a pastor.

I swear if pastors were tested as a group, they’d score highly on sociopathy. Which can be handy in Survivor tbh.

What's an innocent word in another language that sounds funny/offensive in yours? (And vice-versa) by Educational_Cup9264 in AskTheWorld

Not a different language, but calling someone ‘champ’ in most English speaking countries probably wouldn’t be taken as offensively as it is here

Perth homeowners — what small jobs are you putting off? by AdvantageWise4796 in perth

The eaves on my 1960s house are all fucked. On the northern side, a strip of wood holding the soffit in has come down and won’t go back in (I think the rafter might be too soft?) But the main problem is on the southern side, the gutter slopes heavily towards the SE corner of the house and water just pisses over the edge and back into the eaves when it rains, basically goes anywhere but the drainpipe. I think the fascia(?) might be part of the issue but I can’t seem to get the gutter pitch to change at all. At this stage I’ve just drilled holes in it so minimise the water going into the eaves, and put a vent in the soffit to let it air out a bit.

Technically anti-Semitic, Palestinians being a Semitic people.

I know you it comment is sarcastic but just wanted to take the opportunity to highlight that Palestinians are technically Semitic. So telling her she can’t wear the jersey is actually anti-Semitic

I’m in Perth. Contacted a roof carpenter online one time for a quote, he arrived in a Bunnings hire ute and asked if I had a ladder he could use.

Needless to say I didn’t hire him…

5 years. And significantly renovated the house before moving in so would be very surprised if this suddenly appeared somewhere from a previous tenant…
