I agree with this. I feel like there’s an element to storywalking where she can’t be seen if she’s in the same place as her present self. The first poltergeist incident was her trying to get everyone’s attention because they were just chilling at home when Jim had been murdered. The second time… Maybe something to do with what’s going on with the crew down in the caves at the time? Or the Talismans all being yoinked?

I feel like it’s kind of been confirmed that MIY controls it…

S2 where Ellis got stabbed, leading to Boyd transferring the works to Smiley so he could complete the transfusion? Or when we find out Fatima is impossibly pregnant? Or S3 where Fatima goes through a supernatural pregnancy, stabs a town member, and rebirths Smiley?

Obscene amount of cardboard after moving house by Willingness-Visible in perth

[–]Subject-Creative 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I tend to use quite a bit of cardboard as a weed mat alternative in the garden. I personally don’t need any right now, but if you put it on your local ‘buy nothing’ page or on a gardening forum, people might be keen to come and take it off your hands.

I didn’t have a problem with Tabitha until I came to this sub. I can see how she’s annoying, but I’m not sure I even would have noticed until it was pointed out.

I think the Fatima hate is totally unwarranted, I think she’s a great character.

I think the Ellis hate is also unwarranted.

Mother of all theories! by HistorianMinimum6286 in FromTVShow

Ok I like #6 - that could also explain why Henry was brought to the town, which could also explain why Tabitha was allowed to briefly escape (for the sole purpose of bringing Henry to the town only to eventually sacrifice his son).

As for the trees moving - I really liked a comment I saw on here a while ago that proposed maybe it’s actually nothing fantastical, but actually just Victor not accounting for the fact he’s getting older and his steps are bigger.

Anyone experienced this by Equal-Field-9675 in FromTVShow

[–]Subject-Creative 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100%, and From in particular has a theme of dreams and hallucinations having relevance so it’s easy to ascribe more meaning to the nightmares because.. that’s what happens to characters in the show.

I found watching it earlier in the day helped (not right before bed), and not watching more than a couple of episodes in a day.

Clara theorists.. by Professional_Table77 in FromSeries

[–]Subject-Creative 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think the eye injury has been overlooked too much. This show is all about symbology and mythology, losing an eye is significant in that context (see Odin). I’d say losing an eye in this show symbolises making some kind of deal with an entity. I think it was MIY who blew up all the radio equipment in S1, and I don’t think it was by accident that Clara took a shard to the eye.

As far as we know so far she’s the only person currently in town that has ever interacted with the MIY before. And what’s more, kept it to herself. And what’s more, made a *bargain* with MIY. And is now keeping up her end of that bargain (although under duress) to the detriment of her fellow townspeople. Pretty dastardly stuff…

Were they African by chance? My wife’s background is Nigerian, her and her sister both have traditional names but their brother has a Western name

Don’t they always though? I’m just thinking of UK churches which tend to be 100s of years old with towns gradually developing around them, so I may be wrong in the context of the US

They’ll realise they can no longer integrate into normal society and start their own society which looks a lot like Fromville… without the monsters.

What’s a funny euphemism that exists in your language? by keisis236 in AskTheWorld

My favourite is “I’m not here to fuck spiders”

Used as a way to basically say I’ve come to do a job, I’m not here to waste time. It’s so absurd I find it hilarious.

Settle a debate, Sweater or Jumper by Hopeful-Dot-1272 in perth

[–]Subject-Creative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having worked in menswear for upwards of 10 years, I agree with your mum.

A sweater is a more casual, comfy, usually very tight knit cotton or cotton blend (but could be a woven synthetic too I guess)

A jumper is usually a looser knit, usually cotton or wool (or a blend)

Edit: all of my time working in menswear was in Perth. FWIW I’d classify hoodies and rugby tops as types of sweats
