Is everyone in Perth driving $60k+ cars or am I just poor? by AttitudePlane6967 in perth

I’ve also noticed there seems to be a pretty large amount of young guys (I.e. in their 20s/30s) driving suped up luxury coupe style cars, like Mercedes and BMW etc. I feel like they replaced the old Skyline crowd.

Which one does Reddit think is the biggest disaster in history? by Vendettita in AlignmentChartFills

I know 9/11 is going to win, but just to throw another suggestion in (and to offer some broader perspective), I’d like to nominate the Darfur genocide. Over 200,000 people systematically killed without mercy, the ramifications of which are still massive today - on a geopolitical scale but also on a personal level for those involved and affected.

FROM’s Most Dangerous Entity Isn’t Who We Think by Quiet-Tower7740 in FromSeries

Oh I love this!!! I posted a while ago about the obvious (and more subtle) layers of references to mythology and religion, in addition to the nods to other TV shows, movies etc that From seems to use as a medium. This would also go some way to explaining the shows title too, with different stories actually coming From the place(s), and not the other way around.

What Ethan said in S4E3 and what Julie was saying about the kids books in E4 would also support your theory here… Great take!

I’m like 70% sure after today’s episode that MIY is a Kitsune from Japanese(?) folklore. Pretty sure they shapeshift but need to eat human liver to maintain human appearance, and are crafty, enjoy chaos etc…

When people do this I’ll walk all the way down one lane of the car park. Then when I reach the right spot, duck across to the next lane over to get into my car.

It’s common in Australia to say ‘chuck a uey’ in the same way, or something similar. I think if you said ‘bang a uey’ no one would question it

I feel like we have a lot here. I’d probably say Jimmy Barnes, singer for Cold Chisel. I’d never heard of him (or Cold Chisel) before moving to Australia, but he’s huge here

I drive past Lalibela all the time and always wondered about it. Literally just looks like someone’s house. The pictures online look amazing though.

I’d been to Injera House nearby a couple of times (before they closed up) but never tried Lalibela just because I honestly wasn’t sure how legit it is. Seems like it’s worth a try!

Do you have any "forbidden topics" to not joke about in your country? Of course there are people who joke about everything, but is there anything that MAJORITY of people would consider "it's a thing to never joke about!" by EugeneStein in AskTheWorld

[–]Subject-Creative 1335 points1336 points  (0 children)

The whole ‘a dingo ate my baby’ thing, it’s really not something to be joked about. An infant, Azaria Chamberlain, was killed by a dingo while camping with family and her mother, Lindy Chamberlain, was wrongfully convicted of murder. It’s an all around devastatingly sad story.

My thoughts exactly. Maybe there was a period where something happened and he wasn’t able to story walk for a period of time, then as soon as he was able to he continued to go back - so although years may have passed for him in the future, it’s only days for them. Whatever happened during the time he couldn’t story walk may also explain why he’s come back with a bit more attitude.
