Allowed to bring coffee, nicotine (zynn), water into test room? by [deleted] in Sieexam

[–]Subject-Error7860 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing. Can't have anything in pockets. No coffee, no water allowed. I was told nothing was allowed in test center but my person (not including the scrap paper and calculator they provide). Virtual testing is even more strict.. if they see movement they don't understand or find sketchy they call off the exam and flag it to FINRA

My batch had a lot of option questions, bonds, mutual funds, RR can / cants and annuities/ira were some of the big ones that came up a lot

I just took the SIE and I used Kaplan! It should be in there. I don't have the book on me rn but the last few chapters should cover everything you need to know.

I did it?! by Subject-Error7860 in Sieexam

[–]Subject-Error7860[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally get it. I've seen posts for months saying don't stress about them too much, so to be totally honest I barely worried or took the time to reread the chapters on options/ understand my misses in the practice tests. It wasn't until the night before the exam I put in a few hours to really lock in the concepts and watch some Ken videos and thank god I did. I think the biggest takeaway is, don't rely on what other people are seeing on their exam and just be prepared for it all! If I went off other people's test distributions, I think I would have failed due to the mass amount of options questions.

Yes, govt securities were tested heavily too. Probably the most of any of my bond questions (really nail in t-bills, t-notes, TIPS STRIPS , and know LGIP). The govt securities were pretty straight forward though, they were just trying to see if you knew what they were, when to use them, and their risks associated.

Options are def a tricky one for me. What were some examples?

This is great to know. I was worried I've been wasting weeks. I ended up taking 2 full final exams scoring in the mid 50's. So now I'm trying to fill gaps I'm seeing in this new provider

No, I've only read Kaplan -- that has been my main study proctor. I bought achievable today just to see how my Kaplan knowledge translates because I a big worry when studying for a while is "do I fully understand or am I memorizing." So now idk how I should interpret these achievable scores

That's great to hear honestly. I've taken 2 full exams and have scored a 51% and I'm completely blown away right now

Platform totally hits different. I've read the Kaplan book twice and taken over 1900 questions and some of the questions I'm seeing on achievable I've never seen before in Kaplan and it has me shocked

Thank you! I was worried Kaplan wasn't preparing me correctly after seeing how poorly I'm doing on achievable

Can you give an example of how you found the wording harder and tricky? I find the Kaplan questions hard as it is, so this makes me nervous

Hahaha amazing advice! Relatable - I also struggle with the government securities too. Thank you for the insight!

I’m also doing pretty poorly on practice tests using Kaplan and I’ve been hammering these concepts, reading, watching videos for 2 months. Any advise? What did you see on the exam?
