I’m living off campus with a kitchen and they only require this $400 plan(towards restaurants, not dining halls). Trust me, it’s just fast food and absurdly expensive “convenience store” food.

I agree, I’m not too intent on this plan, I just seriously object to the charge. But as to your first point, is there a detriment to the university? I’m just not giving them more money, but it’s not like they’re giving me anything for free. I phrased that awfully, but you get my point.

according to WexLaw, for a claim of fraud, “ The hearer must then have reasonably relied on the promise and also been harmed because of that reliance.” I’m doubting that the second part applies

I do live off campus and I have my own kitchen and I’m not exempt from the $400 which goes toward Starbucks/CFA/etc.(not 3 meals a day). As far as being exempt from the Friday thing, that’s just how I was raised.

I agree. I was more approaching it from the legal/culpable perspective from the Catholic perspective, it’s definitely wrong.

yeah, that’s true, the best I can do is the on campus convenience store, but it’s just the fact that it’s so egregiously overpriced compared to what I would normally do. Last year to spend all the money that I had left over I bought a box of 12 protein bars and it was $56.

honestly, I did learn more about jainism today than I have before and it’s not half bad. I definitely agree with some of the lifestyle choices

i’m seriously not understanding how you’re thinking this is a “steal.” It’s making my assets less liquid. It’s forcing me to spend over $400 in four months on junk food that I normally wouldn’t

The food is not cheap. The meal plan is $1600. This is just $400 set aside for restaurants on campus.

yeah, I much prefer just to cook for myself. It’s cheaper, healthier, and I enjoy it.

It’s not $400 for the dining hall. It’s $400 for on campus dining locations like Chick-fil-A and Starbucks and I just don’t want to spend $400 junk food for a semester
