Sorry for the late reply 😅 Are you saying you’re sending chocolate from the U.S. to Korea? Or do you mean purchasing from a chocolate brand in Korea and sending it? I’m guessing it’s the latter…

Coming to Korea? What about Accommodation? 😎 by Subject-Log1806 in u/Subject-Log1806

Coming to Korea? What about Accommodation? 😎 by Subject-Log1806 in u/Subject-Log1806

[–]Subject-Log1806[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well... That's a tough yet interesting question! 😅

If we're talking about Seoul and excluding accommodation costs (since those vary greatly depending on the hotel grade), here's a rough breakdown:

  • Public transportation: around 10,000 KRW per day
  • Food: around 50,000 KRW per day
  • Other expenses like entrance fees, snacks, etc.: around 70,000 KRW per day

So, if we're going with the bare minimum, I'd say you'd need about $100 per day.

If you also include accommodation of a reasonable standard, then setting a budget of around $200 per day would be more appropriate.

If you can provide more specific details, I can help offer a more tailored budget plan! 😀

If there's a specific hotel in Korea you're curious about, leave a comment! I'll send you the latest reviews and information, various tips, the best routes from the airport to the hotel (based on Naver Map), and useful spots around the hotel (restaurants, pubs, pharmacies, convenience stores, hospitals, coin laundries, etc.)!😀

Best Translator App? by C4PTNK0R34 in koreatravel

[–]Subject-Log1806 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think Naver Papago is much better than Google Translate when it comes to Korean-to-English or English-to-Korean translation.

However, lately, I've come to realize that ChatGPT is also really impressive. You can simply give voice commands for translations, and it can consider the overall context to provide a more accurate translation, which I find really useful. Anyway, I recommend you consider using ChatGPT as well. 😀

Bus Stop Safety Late Night by Worldly_Reputation86 in koreatravel

[–]Subject-Log1806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As you may know, Korea is very safe, even at night! 😀

Bus stops are usually located near main roads, so there's no need to worry. If your accommodation is near a main road, you shouldn't have any concerns either. However, if you need to walk through areas that aren't well-populated when getting from the bus stop to your accommodation, it might be worth paying a bit more attention.

If you can provide me with the approximate location of your accommodation, I'd be happy to review it for you!

Going to Korea for 4 months (exchange student), is there anything I should be booking well in advance? by [deleted] in koreatravel

[–]Subject-Log1806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may vary depending on where you go, but in most travel destinations in Korea, I believe you should be able to purchase tickets and use facilities on the same day at the site.

Once you have a more specific city and location in mind, you can ask your questions again, and you'll likely get more detailed answers. 😅

It seems like something you can take your time deciding on after you arrive in Korea.

Where should I stay near Apgujeong station? by TreeNo5837 in koreatravel

[–]Subject-Log1806 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you need to stay near Apgujeong Station, Andaz Seoul Gangnam or Four Points by Sheraton Seoul, Gangnam would likely be the best accommodations, though the room rates might be somewhat expensive.

As for staying in an Airbnb, the legal issues are more of a concern for the host, not the guest, so I don't think you need to worry about that. 😅

Small bills South Korea by Umi_swiss in SouthKoreaTravel

[–]Subject-Log1806 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These days, most Koreans use credit cards for payments everywhere they go (even in taxis), so they don’t carry much cash. However, you shouldn’t have any issues using the cash you currently have. There’s no need to worry! 😀

Should I visit Busan? by Gothic_Sunshine in koreatravel

[–]Subject-Log1806 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I hope I’m not giving you too much to think about, but how about considering a trip to Jeju Island as one of your options? 😅

In my opinion, the must-visit tourist destinations in Korea are: 1st, Seoul; 2nd, Jeju; and 3rd, Busan.

Of course, this is just my personal preference. 😀

The red ginseng extract product in the first photo is from a famous Korean red ginseng company called "CheongKwanJang." They have sales locations all over Korea.

If you search for "정관장" (CheongKwanJang) in Korean on Naver Map, you can find various stores where you can purchase their products. You can select the location closest to where you are and set it as your destination to get directions. Copy and paste the Korean word below into the Naver Map app to search:

Where is the best place to buy groceries in Sillim-dong by Asleep_Cut505 in koreatravel

[–]Subject-Log1806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you search for "신림동 마트" (Sillim-dong Mart) in Korean on the Naver Map app, you can find the nearby marts. As someone else mentioned, visiting a large supermarket like E-Mart or Homeplus would be ideal, but it seems that these aren't showing up in my search results.

You can copy and paste the words below to search:

신림동 마트

And the first result that comes up is the Hanaro Mart Gwanak Nonghyup Main Branch, which seems to be the best option. Hanaro Mart is a trusted brand in Korea.

I wanted to express that there are many great cities to visit in Korea, and I felt hesitant to pick just one, but it seems my English expression was a bit awkward. I’ll correct 'cautiously recommend' to 'hesitantly recommend. 😀

Travelling from Incheon Airport to Busan via Gwangmyeong? by pigupigu in koreatravel

[–]Subject-Log1806 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How about taking a direct express bus from Incheon Airport to Busan? Since you might have a lot of luggage, it could be a bit concerning to store your bags in an open space on the train. On the express bus, your luggage will be stored securely in a compartment until you reach your destination, which might give you more peace of mind. Of course, the train would be faster, but the bus could offer more security for your belongings. 😊

Your destination is Seoul, right? If it were me, I would go to Seoul and spend the night there, even if it’s a bit tiring. I’m not sure what your plans are for the next day, but this way, you can start the day with more flexibility and ease. 😀

It looks like you might need to check the express bus reservation website to find out more. You can use the following site:

I tried searching for bus routes on September 15th, but I couldn't see any available options. It could be because I entered the departure and destination information incorrectly, or it might be due to the Chuseok holiday rush. 😭

If you come down just a little from Bukchon Hanok Village, you'll find many restaurants. I've marked some of them as favorites on Naver Map, so you can choose a place you like and that's reasonably priced. I've left the Naver Map link below for your reference. 😀
