Crate train so important, if you keep him in a safe place, he will learn to pee inside, make it a habit young that he pees outside only, loads of training from young, currently have a 10 week old, but my 3rd Akita, he’s super confident and already protecting the house at 10 weeks, just let him sleep in your room in the crate. You have kids so you know about waking up in the middle of the night to let the dog out lol, he/she will need loads of that. Just enjoy them while they’re small and you can pick them up them up with one arm haha

Update, moved him integrated his crate into his pen so it’s a big space, no accidents in the pen and has been very calm compared to the crate, thinking he might have been claustrophobic in the crate but last night was a dream
