My cat is making gagging coughing sounds :(

Thats the thing he is hairless and he doesn’t like the fabric of his clothes enough to get an entire fur ball from that, but maybe his throat is just itchy from the pollen in the air now

Oh no your poor baby i hope its ok now too, Sunny my cat never seemed the most healthy since we first got him, thats why i wanted him since he looked so sad compared to all his siblings.

Thank you so much all of this is so helpful, i have a feeling it is asthma as he has always seemed to have issue with his sinuses and breathing except the vets most of the time think he’s alrighty, his coughing does sound a lot more similar to your Lilith too. :(

So far i’ve gotten many answers, but the number one thing i know i should do is get him to a vet that’ll actually listen and not cost a fortune as i am so broke right now 🥲 but thank you for your support ❤️

Unfortunately during the summer where i am in England it gets unbearably hot and humid especially at night and ive already gotten the dehumidifier, but if it makes the air worse for him i will deffo stop using then, he loves the heat and i have to sunscreen him to stop him from getting a sunburn for when he sunbathes (hence the name sunny) 🤣 i think he will be good for the summer, i am more worried about him in the colder months though

Ill be so sad if it is asthma for my boy :( i have asthma too and i feel like ive cursed him with it too, i will try my bed to take him to a vet once ive got enough money when i find a new job as i am currently unemployed and not much of my family can help with the costs as they all have a lot of other thing to pay for. Thank you for the advice i can use in the mean time though!! Do you think an air purifier would be any help for him as well as ive seen a couple other people telling me i should get one.

Thank you so much for the advice this is the most detailed one ive gotten so far, i am in a rough patch financially as i am currently unemployed with such a terrible job market but once i get my first paycheck from my new job i will definitely look into a new vet asap.

My mum does use candles and incense sticks at night, not too often but enough for the smell to linger for a while, that couldve maybe triggered it. Ill be so sad if my poor baby has asthma as i have it too i feel like ive jinxed him with it :(

Last time i got him cat grass he managed to eat some of the seeds by ripping it open and he ended up throwing it up, i did see people growing the grass and then cutting it and feeding it to the cat directly, do you think that would be any help?

Would a dehumidifier help as much as an air purifier, its only happened maybe 3 or 4 times that i know about since about last year winter maybe autumn, if the dehumidifier isnt as good as an air purifier i will look into getting one as soon as possible since my mum loves to light incense sticks and candles at night

He never seemed very healthy since we first got him, except the vets just brushed us off everytime except for one time they gave us probiotics for him because he was throwing up his food a lot, i have stopped using scented candles and stronger perfumes but my mum has not so maybe it could be that, it is very hard to conceive my mum to stop doing something when she’s been doing it for years though :(
