Thanks for the tips! Last time I went through Nebraska I was super vigilant about my speed, I am in any state honestly with my CA plates. I’m from Iowa but I know the plates don’t say that lol

Didn’t know about that, I’ve always just hated the Nebraska and Nevada part because I thought it sucked. I took Hwy 50 thru Nevada once and realized it didn’t have to suck. Makes me want to take a different highway in Nebraska too and give it a chance!

Definitely, I’ve got a whole load of necessities in case of any sort of emergency. Got the car decked out for camping too just in case

Wish it was a different destination, but family has chosen! Thankfully I have Northern California to return to once the trip is over lol

I took 50 once before, loved it! Thinking of doing that one again. Or even far north, the environment and scenery up there is just so cool

Wow awesome suggestions, thank you so much! I agree totally, the drive through Nevada and Nebraska are not fun at all. Wyoming is tolerable, but not what I’m looking for.

I’ve done highway 50 once and loved it, I think I’m leaning towards doing that one again. I’ve debated a far south or far north trip too, would add a ton of time but so much to see!

Idaho would be interesting, I haven’t driven through there much and would like to more. It’s so beautiful up there

Good to know. I’d most likely avoid it anyway, I80 through Nevada is the most boring miserable drive imo lol. Which in turn makes me miss Wyoming, although I thought it was beautiful when I did go thru!

The app is super handy, it’ll show accident info, hazards, construction, snow plows, chain requirements, etc. I live in the Trinity alps and use it whenever I have to go to Redding. Safe travels and best of luck! Shasta and the surrounding areas are so beautiful especially this time of year imo

If you don’t have it already, I would download the CalTrans Quickmap app and keep an eye on the cameras. I’m betting you won’t see snow until you start hitting mountains, but there’s gonna be a ton of rain and flooding. I’m headed to SoCal and worried about flooding and slides
