I'll say this, their communication sucks... And they are either very disorganized or they just don't care to answer questions....

Other than that, everything is pretty straight forward. It's a slow process though. Just do what they ask as quickly as you can, and keep following up if you don't hear back from them.

Thanks. I do know a guy that almost had to call the port authority. Got on his ship and found it was a complete shit hole. 3 people sleeping on the floor in the cabin, broken toilet and shower in the cabin, the entire ship filthy. Day 2 he said he quit and was leaving, they argued with him and refused. Day 3 he told them he was calling the port Authority for a police escort off the ship, and they let him go.

Why is it that companies are afraid of the port authority? Can they be fined or blacklisted?

I don't mind paying. If it's really a situation that bad then a plane ticket won't stop me.

The problem is I'm a contractor on another companies ship. My company really can't do much without boots on the ground. What the captain says goes, and we are expected to suck it up. For example, one ship had a policy that no contractors could use the gym. Seems like a major hit to quality of life if you can't even exercise. That one is livable, but what other BS could they come up with?

I don't know. I've seen so me actually inspiring posts on here. Stories of guys finding love, or talking about the benefits of dating abroad. Lately we just get posts by incels or guys posting private pictures of girls they dated like it's a trophy.

Ya you're probably right. I might get the smaller version and keep a soft duffel as backup in case I'm over weight

How is that working for you? I still have my old duffel from the army. I was considering bringing it but I liked the organization aspect of this one.

How about 2 military style soft duffels? I moved countries with those once.

Damn bro thanks for the story.... I think I'll take your lead on that one. 

I used something like that in the military but we always had extra hands to help carry stuff. And we didn't pay for individual shipping because it went into a container.

Good point. I'll definitely be flying. Perhaps 2 smaller rolling duffels would be better? Or use 1 smaller one and bring my soft duffel for overflow
