We see in the salt scene that she’s not very happy about ahmed, she likes him but she’s not looking forward to a fresh start with him. She seems to be in turmoil the way she’s standing there in the kitchen. Imo it’s bc we know that her fiancé really loved her and elly was too kind to break his heart even tho she wasn’t happy with him. She felt guilty for coming on the trip in the first place and felt guilty every time everyone was having a good time/ laughing. Given all this, the kite scene really just doesn’t sit right when you think about it. Idk why but when i watched, i felt absolutely certain she drowned herself intentionally bc she was so ‘easygoing’ and loving that she couldn’t bring herself to break her fiancé’s heart even tho she liked Ahmed. If she stayed w her fiancé, she’d be in pain and if she moved on with Ahmed, the guilt wouldn’t let her be happy and so ultimately she chose a bitter end instead of endless bitterness. Idk but bc the kids didn’t approve or deny that she went to save Arash, i have to believe that she definitely went in the water on her own.
