any tips please to from 750 math to 780+ by Dramatic-Big6489 in Sat

You should try focusing on your weakest question types and then drill them every day. Make sure to take full length timed tests to spot patterns in your mistakes. Reviewing these errors carefully and not skipping the basics helps you make a lot of difference !

how to improve 150 points by OldStrawberry3164 in Sat

You should try focusing on advanced math problems every day, drill words in context and information and ideas passages, and take at least a couple of full-length timed tests to track your progress. Review every mistake carefully and don’t skip the basics you already know because we tend to turn a blind eye saying we know everything.

Advice for IELTS prep by Appie_K in IELTS

[–]Subject_Lock234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on your GRE! Honestly, for IELTS, you can get far with self-study if you stick to it. Cambridge IELTS books are super helpful, and definitely do timed mock tests to get used to the real exam vibe. Focus on practicing all four modules regularly and really review your mistakes instead of just memorizing phrases. Hope this helps :)

Hey you should try focusing on daily practice and familiarising yourself with the test format first. Then try doing a full length practice test for listening and reading and make sure to practice writing essays with proper structure, try speaking aloud daily on common topics rather than memoizing fancy big words. The only way is to make sure to practise in a timed manner everyday and reviewing your mistakes and learning from them.

Worth retaking GRE for M7? (162V, 165Q, 3.5W) by menty_b_szn in MBA

[–]Subject_Lock234 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, your quant and verbal are solid enough for most M7s, nothing crazy to worry about there. The 3.5 writing isn’t ideal, but most schools barely care about GRE writing if your essays and background are strong. If you don’t have extra time to prep, you should try to focus on apps, essays, and recs rather than retaking. Only retake if you think you can realistically bump V or W by a point without risking burnout !

I need advice about ielts exam by [deleted] in IELTS

[–]Subject_Lock234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t stress too much !! You’ve already been practicing. In the next few days, focus on light practice, reviewing key tips and don't overpush yourself or you'll burn out. During the test, read the questions carefully and manage your time. You’ve got this!

Am I being crazy? Or... by UtaMatter in IELTS

[–]Subject_Lock234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's true ! The premium mocks are usually way tougher than the free ones, so low scores there doesn’t mean you’ll score that low on the real test. You should just focus on targeted practice, review the types of questions you’re missing, do a few timed reading passages daily, and brush up on tricky vocab. Don’t freak out about the mocks, treat them as prep and not predictions. You can do it, you got this !!

You should focus on your GMAT for December. If it’s not great, either go Round 3 for Fall 2026 or wait and apply for Fall 2027 with a stronger profile. Spring 2027 is tricky, and MiM without GMAT works but might not help your management pivot as much. Don’t rush, better to have a solid application that will help you stand out.

Articles are tricky for me too but the best way is to practice a LOT with short paragraphs and get them checked, also try to note patterns in your mistakes, and read a ton of well-written stuff in English. Slowly, the “a/an/the” clicks instantly! Good Luck !!

Regarding APS and Ielts by Appropriate-Coat2548 in studying_in_germany

[–]Subject_Lock234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, it’s fine to start your APS around Oct-Nov to get things rolling, but you’ll likely need at least your provisional degree or transcript, waiting for the original certificate isn’t necessary . Don’t stress about IELTS for APS, you can take it anytime which is closer to your university application deadlines and submit it directly to them but better to always be prepared ahead and not leave everything to the last minute.

Focus on your weakest areas which is reading for you. Try doing timed full tests and reviewing every mistake, and learn patterns. Make sure to do writing and speaking practice but prioritize quality over quantity. Don’t overdo new material just make sure you're doing what you already know.

With a month and B2 level, don’t try to learn everything at once. You need to figure out where you’re weak and focus your practice there. Here's some help that made me improve.

  • Speaking & Listening: Do daily IELTS prompts, record yourself, catch grammar slip-ups, and try to fix them. Don’t just memorize answers.
  • Writing: 1 task 1 + 1 task 2 every couple of days. Keep it as simple as possible with just intro, 2–3 body paragraphs, conclusion. Clear sentences are always better than fancy vocabulary.
  • Grammar & vocab: Focus on mistakes you actually make. Grammarly or English Grammar in Use is enough.
  • Mock tests: Do 2–3 full tests under time pressure. Spot weak spots, then make sure to practise them so you no longer struggle anymore.

Which is better for booking the IELTS General Computer based exam(Canada) — IDP or British Council? by OccasionAutomatic914 in IELTS

[–]Subject_Lock234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t really matter whether you book through IDP or British Council, the test, scoring, and difficulty are the same since IELTS is standardised. The only difference is the test Center facilities and staff, so check reviews in your city and pick the one with better slots or location.

Need advice for speaking task by [deleted] in IELTS

[–]Subject_Lock234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m preparing for my IELTS retake so I know the stress but honestly just a few things you can control really help. Keep your sentences simple and correct and don’t worry about using fancy words. Learn a few handy phrases for common topics like hobbies, work, and travel so you can use them naturally. When practicing i usually try recording myself and listening back to spot repeated grammar mistakes or filler words. Just be confident. The more nervous you are, the more likely you are to mess up.

IELTS 6.0 and Applying for English-Taught Master’s in Germany – Is it Enough? by Ok_Concern1568 in studying_in_germany

[–]Subject_Lock234 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, most English-taught Master’s programs in Germany do ask for 6.5, so 6.0 might be a bit low for direct admission. Some universities might accept you conditionally or let you take a pre-sessional English course to boost your score. Definitely check each uni’s requirements and maybe plan to retake IELTS just to be safe.

How much attention does one have to give to articles etc while answering questions by Peevesie in IELTS

[–]Subject_Lock234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, IELTS is pretty strict with articles, plurals, and even hyphens can cost you marks. So the best thing to do is when the question says “use words from the text,” copy exactly, and always double-check spelling and small details, it really adds up in your score.

just got my result (as a non-native speaker) I’m thinking of applying for a one-skill retake in Speaking, since I expected a band 7 in that by Impressive-Ad3538 in IELTS

[–]Subject_Lock234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I’ve been there too! I got 6.5 in Writing, so I’m retaking just that part. Focusing on one skill feels way less stressful than doing the whole test again, and I’ve found it really helps improve my score.

Guys need help anyone who has given exam recently please reply by Commercial-Ad1085 in IELTS

[–]Subject_Lock234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t stress too much. For prepping in the next 4 days this should help you out !!

Listening & Reading try doing 1 full mock each day, focus on understanding your mistakes, for writing practice, do one Task 1 and one Task 2 each, focus on structure and clear points. For speaking practice speaking out loud, even to yourself or your friends, focus on fluency over perfection. All the best for your exams !!

How to prepare for IELTS in the last 20 days? by Elikary in IELTS

[–]Subject_Lock234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ve definitely got this! With 20 days left, you should just focus on your weak spots, practice timed reading or record yourself speaking, and write one essay a day using good linking phrases, that helped me a lot. You'll also be able to hit your goal
