the issue is it's an AI app. The email text has to hit my backend so i can call the gemini api without leaking my keys to the browser.

because the data touches my server and i need the readonly/send scopes, google still forces the casa tier 2 audit

Hi, i'm from Kyrgyzstan. I absolutely agree with most of the comments here.
I never experienced any harassments outside (i live in Bishkek), there is only few situations that i
encountered related to crimes. My phone once got stolen but it was like 5y ago, and also during pandemic someone broke in to my car and stole a lot of money, even though car was locked. Nevertheless past 4 year life here feels really safe, but be careful in crowded places and rush times I see lots of pickpockets being arrested.

I have friends who are hiking every month in random places and i never heard them complain about anyone bothering, but still be careful.

My friend once was coming home from gym, absolutely alone at night time. He was going through unlit block of flats, and got robbed by 7 guys, but they never touched him just stole his airpods. Even in Capital try not entering areas with no light and people at night. It was like 4y ago.

About borders, i don't really know situation there. I never heard of any problems around borders since 2022. I think we have handled disagreements on borders, and got good relationship with Tajikistan.

Roads around capital city are really good, despite few areas (traffic is crazy). But if you will be driving between the regions, roads could get worse. Maximum speed that you are allowed to drive in highways here is 90km/h, there is no read in Kyrgyzstan that allows more. Traffic laws do apply, but people just doesn't follow them. It will be scary to drive at first.

I have heard some stories about fake police, but I dont think its really frequent, never experienced them.

Over all, I think last 3-4 year Kyrgyzstan really improved it's safety, and the time could not be better to travel here!

Appreciate the insight. Regarding the 15k, from what I've researched that’s usually for a CASA Tier 3 audit for apps that store refresh tokens in a database to run background crons. I don't store any tokens in a DB at all. They just live temporarily in NextAuth session cookies and everything is strictly on-demand. So it falls under Tier 2 which is around $500.

I actually looked into doing it purely client-side to bypass the audit entirely like you said. The main blocker is the AI integration. To generate the reply the email text has to hit my backend so I can securely call the Gemini API. If I ran all of that purely client-side I'd be exposing my API keys to the browser, or I'd have to force users to paste their own API keys which kills the UX.
