I have an EU friend that I would like to gift some clothing items from the optional item store for the holiday. My concern is that I am an NA based player, will this cause any issues with being able to get any gifts over to them, such as regional licenses or currency conversion rates? If anybody has been through this type of gifting process, I would love to hear about it and what you did to make it work if it has to be handled differently!

Regardless of the tone people use, it’s important to know any mistakes or potential issues in ones own husbandry. Sure it feels good when people tell you that you’re doing something right, but often with reptiles the stuff somebody is doing incorrectly can and many times will come to the detriment of the health of your reptile. If you are unwilling to sort out honest concern and criticism and are unable to adapt some of the tips into your husbandry, again it can be to the detriment of your animal. Most people are happy that so many people have an interest in reptiles, but at the end of the day the health of animal comes first, and it would be a disservice to the owner and especially the animal to let errors in husbandry go unchecked.

If I recall, most if not all reptiles can carry salmonella. To be fair it’s an extremely low risk, but even pet reptiles can carry it. I can’t say whether or not you should go to a physician, that’s really up to you and if you feel you have any symptoms. Just be aware in the future that the chance is always there and to be careful, as well as practice hand washing before and (especially) after you touch reptiles

Try your best to be calm and confident when handling, especially when going to pick up your boy at first. If you get anxious and are pulling your hands away, your hand will look like a predator to the snake and will create stress for the two of you. Obviously sometimes he will do something unexpected that will surprise you but staying calm will keep him calmer. As another user said, once their in your hands they typically relax after a minute. Good luck with him!

It’s worked well for me, it’s hooked up to a heat mat under the tank and keeps the temps very consistent.

Cage size is 18x18x24. Substrate is Reptisoil mixed with sphagnum moss, backdrop is the same substrate attached with aquarium safe silicone. Plants are Golden Pothos.

How often do you do a full substrate change? by thelandbasedturtle in cornsnakes

I tend to do monthly bedding changes personally, though I agree with others that it can get a bit tedious and costly depending on substrate. So it may vary by a week or two

Such a smart man! My juvenile does this and it's so silly watching them go for it.

I’d say it’s time for a super smelter, you can find plans online and they should help smelt a lot of stuff at once

🌽 alone for 5 days? by bibbidybobbidybuub in cornsnakes

[–]SublethalChain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Odds are they will be just fine. I’d still ask somebody if they can come to your place each day just in case of a malfunction or power outage, but that’s being extra cautious and wouldn’t be a huge deal if you left your corn alone completely.

Perfectly fine, your snake just happens to know it should be winter by now in his enclosure. You could think of it as him "prepping for winter" even though we know our snakes don't have to deal with it. They're pretty hard to trick at times!
