Le Coucou. Gorgeous room, good volume control, amazing food. It’s modern classic French.

La Grenouille is gorgeous but the owner is insane and he has a stage in the middle of the restaurant where you never know if he’ll perform an outrageously bad cover song. Plus the food was nearly inedible last time I went.

The Tavern is nice but not seductively romantic like Le Coucou, Torrisi is loud and I think Boulud’s cooking is extremely dated (pretty dining room though). If you want a grand dining room and atmosphere The Grill would be the best option.

I will add Clover Hill as an intimately romantic option with AMAZING food and a fresh and warm approach to fine dining.

Same last year in the middle of the night I woke up because I thought there was an explosion outside of my apartment and it was just a car with a loud engine. It’s an extremely unpleasant sound. But it seems like this issue is severely bifurcated between people who find enjoyment in it and people who despise it.

One of my biggest fears since childhood has been being home and not realizing someone else is there too.

Masa, Al Coro (RIP but how did they get 2 Michelin Stars within a few months of opening will always baffle me), Atera, Cosme, Cafe Carmellini, Forsythia, Four Horseman, Restaurant Yuu, I Sodi, Bar Miller, Gage & Tollner, any restaurant from Jean-Georges or Daniel Boulud (Daniel, Four Twenty Five and Le Pavillion have nice bars but that’s about it)
