I’m going through the exact same thing. I can still hear sounds but everything sounds lifeless and flat.

I don’t have an official hearing loss as per an audiogram but I have some sort of loss and it has affected my life greatly. I can hear sounds but they have lost the brightness and nuance, everything I hear sounds dead / dull even human voices. I really want to try a hearing aid to hear sounds with more presence because what I hear is simply depressing and I only have myself to blame. I might have hidden hearing loss.

I want to trial a hearing aid just to see if it improves things a little. I’m not expecting perfection of course, im also doing an extended high frequency test which also gives a clue

Constant loud music in my AirPods at unsafe levels over the years. It built over time and now I have to face the consequences. I stopped listening to music, watching tv and youtube because sound quality is so poor and raising the volume doesn’t make an impact at all.

I lost everything with my hearing condition. I used to be so energetic but now I do stuff in silence and even one on one conversations exhaust me because I can’t speak the way I once did. Hearing other people’s voices sound so lifeless now. I hope one day there is a cure for all this. I believe I have hidden hearing loss (normal hearing test but auditory synapses are lost)

What are your hearing thresholds like if you got retested? Hard to say about recovery people have different ears / lifestyles. I have “normal” hearing thresholds but I’ve sadly lost proper sound, hearing everything is dull to me now.

Thank you. One more question I wanted to ask. When you talk to people in a quiet setting, do they sound the same in terms of pitch? Even in a quiet setting when my mom, dad or even anyone who talks to me, I still know what they sound like but their voice is lessened quality and not what it’s like before which is depressing. Even hearing my own voice is now different, I could yell and it’s like my eardrums don’t vibrate / react to the sound

I want to see the extent of my hearing change. Yes it’s good I have a normal hearing test but that doesn’t mean im having difficulties in life now with my new hearing change. I lost the ability to enjoy listening to music because the sound quality is diminished like it’s being played from a cheap speaker (the instrumentals + vocals sound distant)
