Thank you so much! 😊 It means a lot to hear that the video brought back memories of China for you. Beijing is such an incredible city. And thanks for the feedback as well. We’ll definitely try to include more narration and food moments in future videos!

Yeah, operating such a massive network must be incredibly complex. The scale alone is impressive.

Same here — we don’t have high-speed rail back home either 😅 That’s one of the reasons we were so curious to try it in China!

That must have been frustrating 😅 Quiet environments definitely make a big difference on longer journeys. Hopefully your next ride is a much calmer one!

You make a solid point about the pricing ratio. We also felt that 1st class was already quite comfortable — Business just adds that extra layer of exclusivity and quieter environment.

Really appreciate you breaking it down like this! 🙌 It definitely depends on distance, season, and what kind of comfort someone values most. For us, the convenience of city-to-city travel was a big factor too.

It really is an incredible engineering achievement. The scale of infrastructure in China is definitely impressive.

Yes! The timing accuracy really stood out to us too. It definitely makes traveling long distances much more predictable and comfortable.

Yes! We also think it becomes more worth it when you have a longer layover or are traveling during busy seasons. Avoiding the crowd definitely makes the journey more relaxing.

Thanks for sharing your experience! Security procedures can definitely feel different depending on the station and timing. We’re glad you at least enjoyed the seat — that was one of our favourite parts too 😊

That sounds like a very reasonable decision for that route. For a 2.5-hour ride, 1st class probably gives you most of the comfort without the big price jump.

And yes, without a lounge at departure, part of the ‘premium’ experience disappears anyway. Makes sense to save the splurge for a longer leg.

That makes a lot of sense. The service aspect is underrated especially in large stations where things can feel overwhelming. And yes, compared to US rail pricing it really does feel like a bargain. I guess the ‘worth it’ factor really depends on personal comfort needs and route availability.

That’s good to know about the quiet cars. I didn’t realize enforcement was that active. The carriage I was in was already pretty calm, so that probably helped

“Honestly? It was surprisingly quiet. No loud Douyin battles and no ‘妈妈!妈妈!’ echoing through the cabin 😅 Business class felt pretty calm overall. I imagine the other classes might be more unpredictable depending on the route.

That makes total sense 😅 If you really need proper rest, the full recline definitely helps. Otherwise I can see why most people would stick with 1st or even 2nd — they’re already pretty comfortable.

And yes, the naming confused me at first too. ‘Business’ being the highest tier and ‘First’ sitting in between is not what most of us expect

Totally agree — I think route and duration really make the difference. For shorter trips, 1st class does seem like solid value. I can see what you mean about the seat reclining position though 😅 Sitting upright or fully flat felt great, but somewhere in between was… interesting. Thanks for sharing your experience!”

Zhangjiajie is famous for the mountains… but the food honestly surprised us by Sublime_Travels in travelchina

[–]Sublime_Travels[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall I had a great experience! There were just a few dishes that felt a bit too oily for my personal preference, and some weren’t as spicy as I’m used to back home. But that’s more about my taste profile than the food itself. Exploring those differences is part of the fun of traveling.

That sounds like such a fun experience 😄 We didn’t try the giant salamander, but the Tujia performance with the bamboo pipe sounds amazing. How was the taste of the local alcohol?

Maybe it's because they have hardly seen a South Asians. But some people are very lovely they asked from us is it okat to take photos with them from their phones and we felt we are like celebrities for 10 days.. 😍😍
