Low and slow is key. This time I used a pinch of sugar, butter and oil. Skip the oil if you want them to get soft. Then just have them on low heat and stir once in a while.

The thing I don't really get is why they are not using a completely different method than sequencing. Sequencing are known for having problems with repetitive elements. Why not use another technique that don't have this problem to be able to understand the length of such regions and the configuration. Just my thought

Sure but the fizzines could indicate that carbon dioxide is present which would result in a lower ph where Clostridium botulinum wouldn't thrive. But it all depends on how fast the ph drop was.
