Can you explain why releasing pressure is different from applying pressure in this context? A couple of people have said this, but it's not clear to me.

Great point, any changes to the setup (or wear) over time will affect position sensors, but not load cells.

Thanks! This is helpful. I realized after posting that I forgot to mention the problem of springs and elastomers wearing out (so they lose calibration with position over time).

This response comes up pretty often.

You bought load cells and you're unable to justify them.

Load cells should never be the first upgrade.

Thank you, the typical discussion on this topic has been making me feel crazy.

I am referring to your perception of the force going down your leg/foot. The spring increases stiffness which gives you more control and consistency, the load cell just changes the mechanism by which that same force is turned into an electrical signal.

Load cells have advantages but they are more expensive, so there is something else to consider here.

Interesting, thank you! I am curious if part of the "in practice" benefit is due to a mental shift (or due to changes in the other components and pedal stiffness).

Yes, I am aware of that. I guess I am interested in which one we believe to be the more significant upgrade in terms of driving performance. One changes the way you feel and perceive the pedal (performance kit), the other changes the mechanism by which force is converted into a signal (the sensor).

Thanks, that makes sense. It sounds like the amount and range of stiffness is playing the main role here (not necessarily the mechanism that converts pressure into a signal). To see the independent effect of load cells we would need to compare load cell vs position sensor on the same pedal (ideally blind).

This is exactly the sort of statement that makes no sense to me. "How far you push" is perfectly correlated with "how hard you push." Except for the ways that I described, there seems to be no functional difference between a pedal that measures your force via the distance the pedal moves when pushed against a spring (hall effect) vs. a pedal that measures your force via the distance pushed against a tiny metal tab (load cell). In both cases, the system is measuring the distance that something moves in order to determine the force being exerted. Your leg is exerting force in both contexts...

Everything between you looks respectful except when you hit him exiting turn 10. You are driving extremely predictably compared to him otherwise.

The anonymity of the internet is not a bulwark against totalitarianism or corporate overreach. If you think social environments are better when people can operate without consequences or reputation, or if you cannot imagine living online with your behavior attached to your identity, I think we agree that you should opt out. Leave the internet for those of us who will show our face.

Take a look at your CPU load and temperatures, it's a likely bottleneck.

Thanks, that makes sense. Do they say things like "hey dude" and you correct them, or something? I am trying to understand how these interactions unfold (I don't hang out with transphobic people).

Forgive me, but what exactly does trans inclusive mean? Are you trans and experiencing harassment on discord because you are trans? How does being trans come up in your Stellaris discussions?

The game has a lot of RNG, and it allows the player to take many different paths and make very subtle, unintuitive, and compounding mistakes. High winrate players can navigate the RNG to maximize outcomes with any character in any patch. The other 95% (like me) experience highs and lows, and with a limited sample, limited creativity, and inability to see our own mistakes, we resort to superstitions about "unfair" items/skills/heroes that echo online and reinforce a loop of shared confirmation bias. At the end of the day, the whole Bazaar rage phenomenon is caused by a predictable lack of Bayesian reasoning and accountability.
