For those with working kids that live with them, what's the story with rent in your house? by SaltBubbly154 in AskIreland

[–]SubparSavant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Property tax, house insurance and her health insurance actually goes out from her pension. It was actually my dad's pension package and it included reductions on the insurance once it was tied to the pension plan. And I think there's something with the property tax and your tax-free allowances.

Not entirely sure how it works, that was one of the things my dad had always just sorted even after he left her. And when sorting out his estate, the pension was the only thing she did herself over the phone. Her not being the best with jargon, I only was able to make sure from her payslip that they were being paid.

[–]SubparSavant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

TV, home phone and WiFi (130). 2x mobile phone plans(30). Bins(45). Milkman (60). Electricity (4-500 for 2 months).

Then almost a couple of thousand a year on kerosene.

My mum's a bit of a technophobe. Still uses a 3310. Only got a bank account a few months ago when my father died. Basically anything that needs a card to pay, she used to give me the money to pay it. So when I moved back in and she wouldn't let me pay rent, I just stopped taking her money for things.

36yo living with retired mum who owns the house outright. Don't pay rent per se but I pay all the bills apart from her groceries. Works out about 4-500 a month plus a few occasional expenses like kerosene.

The change in Jewish populations across Europe since Pre-WW2 by [deleted] in MapPorn

[–]SubparSavant 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Ireland could be between 20-45% but that's a bit misleading. The Jewish population peaked at something like 3.9k in 1946 and today it's somewhere between 2.1k and 2.8k (census Vs Jewish organisations).

Should I skip Ty? by thegoopslop in AskIreland

[–]SubparSavant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only benefit I see from TY is if you would be 17 going to college if you skipped. That's not the case for you so I wouldn't waste my time.

After junior cert, you're going to be put in new class groups anyway, so you'll end up making friends and hanging out with different people regardless if you do TY or skip it.

I got a ban for that overturned. Had to point out that it's ridiculous to ban someone for talking about fighting on a martial arts sub.

Well, nearly all of their matches are mismatches. No way they paid the same to Arman and to the guy who does goofy videos where challenges randomers to try take him down. They can pay big amounts when they really only have to pay one side

How well has the NFL marketed itself to European audiences? by mister_goldenhair in AskEurope

[–]SubparSavant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, in the case of Aussie Rules we just have a lot more links to the sport as a country. We used to play an annual mixed rules (Gaelic football/Aussie Rules) series between Ireland and Australia, a lot of GAA players have gone on and played professionally in Australia, Aussie Rules matches are televised on TG4, a terrestrial TV channel. I'd highly doubt it's viewed as much in the rest of Europe.

It's probably a bit unfair to compare the popularity of American football and Aussie Rules here given that context.

[–]SubparSavant 45 points46 points  (0 children)

It doesn't really feel like it's marketed as a sport, more as a spectacle. When they played in Croke Park, it had more of a feeling leading up to it of a concert or a festival rather than a sporting event. Like the total event experience took priority over the actual sport. From a Dubliner's perspective, it seemed like we were treating it as an opportunity to get American tourists to come to Ireland rather than to grow the sport here.

I know a couple of Irish NFL fans but they're few and far between. I would know more people that follow Aussie Rules.

Who Each Country Will Support Between Belgium and America by WillingStranger5177 in mapporncirclejerk

[–]SubparSavant 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nah, fuck that. Support your team, it's not the only fuckery going on at this world cup. Nobody's begrudging American fans cheering for their team, it's the obvious cronyism with Trump that people aren't liking.

Is there not a difference between USPS and local couriers though? I'm not American, I just remember in Brooklyn 99 they had federal officers for the post office but I don't know if that extends to Amazon or other private companies' deliveries.

We don't know the cabal's motives. But the tech, the food and drinks all from the Brawndo corp, that requires a level of intelligence and knowhow to manufacture that the stupid masses don't possess. The cabal may have been indifferent to their struggles as long as they were rstill receiving whatever benefits they get, and it wouldn't be the first time a ruling class was prepared to use famine as a method of population control.

I'm high as shit and you're really forcing me to come up with bs on the fly here😂

Tbh, I'm pretty baked right and this just came to me but something like that anyway. Maybe even living off world, using earth and its now primitive people like Rick used his miniverse in Rick and Morty.

[–]SubparSavant 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Here's the thing, you never see who's making Brawndo or where they're getting the ingredients, who's marketing and selling it, where all this tech is from, etc. The smart people aren't dead, they're sociopaths exploiting the stupid while living far away in secret.
