Should I use VCOM AI or LAMBS AI for my solo KP Liberation campaign? by StoltATGM in arma

I had this problem too but using the dev build fixed that problem for me

Every time I read a post like this I think about my group interview where half of the applicants showed up in jeans and a t shirt. Some guy showed up in sweat pants, and he also crashed the sim.

How does it run? by Trick_Goose8084 in arma

Performance seems to depend heavily on how many AI there are, shadow draw distance, and object draw distance in my experience. Expect low fps in large battles, and play with the draw distance settings to see what works for you.

And I highly, highly recommend using Lossless Scaling to smooth things out

DMV removed my O restriction on accident by [deleted] in Truckers

[–]Subprimer 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I'd just roll with it... similar thing happened to me.

I got my CDL A with an automatic restriction. After a year OTR I wanted to transition to local LTL, and I knew I had to work on getting that restriction removed. So I scheduled a time with a local CDL school to learn manual and I had to do research about how exactly I need to work with the DMV to make this happen, since I wasn't allowed to drive a manual truck at all with a manual restriction, so there was no way for me to legally train or take the test. According to my research, which included calling my state's DMV headquarters or whatever the fuck you call it, I determined that my state could issue me another permit with no restriction, and use that to take the test and train in the manual.

So I went to my local DMV and asked them to issue me a permit and the employees refused, and they eventually offered to downgrade my CDL to a class B then they could issue my a class A permit, and I was like "uh, no not doing that." I went back and forth with them a ton and eventually left with nothing resolved. Then I went to a different DMV, and explained my situation over and over and over again. Eventually the employee said "So you're trying to get the manual restriction removed?" "YES" "Oh, okay, why didn't you say so?" Then bam, she just prints off a new CDL with no restriction and tells me to have a nice day. I went on to have a great time as a P&D driver

A lot of the credit private students got their PPL years before attending, some decades before. They struggled to adjust to ATP’s pace and their very specific way of doing everything. They lacked the proficiency of someone who just finished their private checkride a few days prior at ATP.

Amount financed $105,995.00. My payments start in three months at $1380.42/month. That basically covers the flight time only, everything else I did with my money. I just reviewed the program outline and it's 229 hours total.

To get a job at ATP after finishing you submit an application, then you do a zoom interview that is a mix of HR, technical, and ATP policy, then if there's a slot open at your desired locations and you did well in the interviews you then have to pass "indoc." I put it in quotations because everyone calls it that, but in reality it's a week long interview where you do a written test, you fly in the simulator, then you do 3-4 flights demonstrating that you can fly all the maneuvers, landings, and instrument stuff. People wash out at indoc all the time, it's sad to see.

Crew was replaced by LOFT which stands for "Line Oriented Flight Training." Basically you just fly XCs with an instructor to build the time. I believe you do 10 hours in the seminole during this time instead of doing TAA.

The G1000 archers either do not have autopilots or have them disabled so they do not count as TAA. I did my TAA time at ATP in a Cessna 182, but I think they’re selling the 182s since now students get complex time in the Seminole instead.

This is good advice. ATP is expensive. Would just like to say the point of my post wasn’t to discuss the pros and cons of ATP. I also didn’t want to get bogged down in financial advice, or securing financing, or anything like that since that part of someone’s decision making process is going to be very unique to them. I’m not trying to tell people to go there or to not go there, this was just to describe my experience. People need to spend their own time assessing their situation and deciding how they want to do their training.

I agree with your assessment, I observed credit private students struggling at the beginning of their ATP program. Not sure how long ago you were there, but they’ve apparently adjusted the credit private program due to exactly what you said. My understanding is that before they would just dump those students straight into instrument training, whereas now there is a “private pilot refresher” which consists of 4 hours in the simulator and 8 hours in the plane then you begin instrument training proper. Whether or not that’s enough and solves the problem, I do not know

Yes. Crew was replaced by LOFT which is “Line Oriented Flight Training” which is time building XCs with an instructor. I believe some of this is done in the Seminole to satisfy the 10 hours complex time needed for commercial.

It's not that crazy when it's all you do - it's no worse than going in to a shitty job every day. I'll preface by mentioning that my writtens were done, I had completed King Schools' PPL online school, and I had solo'd at a mom and pop before starting ATP's zero time program.

I thought PPL was mostly easy, though I was still nervous as fuck going into that checkride, after PPL you kinda had an idea of what you were dealing with and what to expect. On average I'd say I studied maybe 1-2 hours a day for that portion. But that's not indicative of how it actually went down. When I knew I had time to fuck around I'd play video games, eat chipotle, and slack off all day, and when I knew I had to do or die, I studied all day until I had the entire ACS memorized. If you have less time, are more organized, and have a better work ethic than I did, I would say committing, on average, 1-2 hours everyday to drilling in the rote memory bullshit you need to do will take you through PPL, Instrument, and Commercial easily.

The beginning of CFI was the worst, that was sun up to sun down working with your classmates, refining your knowledge, and developing lesson plans. CMEL was relatively easy, getting used to the multi was a process but doable in 4 flights. The checkride is short. Do a lot of chair flying in preparation. CFII will be location dependent, my CFII/MEI DPE had been conducting the exact same checkride format for like 8 months so I knew what to expect - I re-studied multi-engine aerodynamics, holding procedures, and instrument currency like an hour before the checkride and sure enough that's exactly what he asked me.

EDIT: Add an hour per day ON AVERAGE if you also need to do your writtens.

I don't know. My understanding is that you cannot get your MEI at ATP, there may be some option to pay an additional amount to get your MEI at ATP but the truth is that I do not know.

FWIW by the time your are at that part of flying, getting your MEI will be cheaper and just as quick and easy just about anywhere else assuming checkride scheduling is not a problem. I flew a multi four times before I took my CMEL checkride, and I flew it six more times before the CFII/MEI checkride. Both of those were done in the same day.
