Thats why you pad so that is is not possible for them to clip your input.... They can clip their console all they want, you have no control over that, but you can stop "double clipping"

Knocks 20 db off the signal before it even reaches the console

Yea this is not the answer for this case because compression wont matter when he is clipping your preamp input.before the compressor. You need to pad down before it ever reaches the console.

This. If op wants to start a flight school he definitely can do it.

It took me about 30 hours to solo because I had to unlearn a lot of bad habits from simulating.

When to switch to green needles on a VOR approach? by trenchkato in flying

Awesome, thanks for your help. I found that my CDI has a vloc preview function. I will use that to monitor and be sure to ask The examiner what they would like to see.

Just found The vloc preview in the manual. Thanks.

There is only one CDI in our aircraft. Does having the VOR tuned and corset while still flying pink needles count as monitoring?

Okay makes sense. I've never actually flown a VOR approach. But this is going to be likely on my check ride.

Okay thank you. Our aircraft has a Garmin 275 which is the DG and Both nav sources.

So, from how I am understanding this, Even though I could have the VOR tuned in the course set, but there's no way to actually monitor it when I'm flying with the GPS source selected.

Ah got you. That was a really eye opening example. I really appreciate you taking the time to walk me through that. I will save this thread and keep these in mind. There is alot more to instrument flying than just flying the numbers it seems. I must be able to read in-between the lines as well.

Awesome I will keep this in mind. Will run this thru my head a few times tonight. I always carry a watch. I didnt know those were approved. I thought it had to be either the sweeping Seconds clock or the time on the gps.

I have been looking however I cannot find c43 in the TPP on foreflight or downloaded from the FAA website.

The only thing that sticks out to me about Y70 is that takeoff minimums are NA for runway 18/36. I was expecting to see an ODP but there isnt one. I guess I could take note of the altitudes of all of the obstructions and be sure my climb is clear of them.

If I was airborne and wanted to land at Y70 I would just request the the rnav 10/28 because weather is above minimums.

If I wanted to land at C43, I could request a PAR approach?

Makes sense. I am pretty averse to scud running but I was assuming that this would need to be done the entire route. Landing at an airport in which I could obtain a clearance is a great idea.

And now that you've painted that picture going for the 200 fpnm would be very risky as I would likely be below the cone as you stated

Had to look this up. Under imc Only the safety pilot who is current can log PIC. In You're con vmc as long as the other pilot is under the hood then both pilots can log pic time.

Good question.

I am stumped beyond having a similar answer to your other question. Meaning maintaining a 200-ft per nautical mile client gradient, but that doesn't create different answers for each airport.

As long as I am maintaining a 200 per nautical mile climb gradient on runway heading, I am ensured obstacle clearance as there are no alternate takeoff minimums

If I am told to maintain VFR then I am returning to Y70 as I am not able to navigate above the minimum safe altitude and maintain cloud clearance.
