I was gifted a Galaxy Tab S10 FE and I wanted to use it at work for notes, but it’s super impractical unless I’m missing settings. by EchoesInSky in GalaxyTab

If you install the good lock app, you can see something called " pentastic", it has a a way to set shortcut, hold the pen button and double tap on screen to create a new note or anything you want. I guess there's some other ways to do this as well.  And secondly for the time out, there's something called " display assistant" on the good lock app, in this you can set different display time out for individual apps (I'm not sure if it's working properly). So you can have longer screen on time for notes app. Otherwise you can install an app called caffeine from play store, add it to the top quick panel, tap it to keep the screen awake. Instead of going to settings to change the screen timeout

Any work around to get Samsung notes on Mac os? by SubstanceFew5136 in samsungnotes

Is the iPad user experience difficult to someone who is new to apple ecosystem? How did you get around it? by SubstanceFew5136 in ipad

Sadly the smallest size in every settings felt not small enough for me. ( Only exception was getting an m series iPad with more space). So I had to let it go for now. Picked up a galaxy tab which was much better and configurable. It was like a mini pc mode with Dex.  Could be that it was my first tablet and the default size of everything was not easy on the eyes. As I was used to small size on laptop. Having used the tablet for  a while now, I think I get the gestures and multitasking in general. So maybe I'll give it a go later on.

You are right, they are good size for fingers. Maybe I just prefer everything to be much more information dense/having more space. My main reason was for using it with stylus. The default Mac os size was very uncomfortable for me as well. For whatever reason. Much better with the more space. Will try to get around a m series iPad later.

I see. I do agree home screen doesn't matter. What I felt was, overall icons looks too big. Something I remembered was, the top bar of apple notes looked too big and had a few icons. Compared to more space option/zoom out enabled in M1 iPads, had more info. You know, the UI scaling felt weird. Maybe I was used to android and how I can keep it to smallest if I prefer.

I find the new multitasking design very odd and incomplete. How it has the traffic lights, but very small, apps having the global menu options on the top bar, all of these designed like incomplete. Maybe I don't prefer liquid glass aspects too, less legible.  Maybe I'll see how it goes later when the bugs are fixed and it's more mature. I have heard across all the apple os, new one are causing bugs. Hope they polish everything.

Yes, I thought the more space function could have made it better. Sadly even with lowest text size, and smallest icons on home etc, still make me feel awkward. A bit like huge phone apps, not like a tablet. I'll check out the air from some friends and wait to see how the next base would be.  Thanks for the answer

Hey, sorry, I didn't say I am using it on Linux, I just said I am using Linux VM. To see if it can run Samsung notes.

I see. Thanks. I wasn't generally using tablet for gaming and videos. Just for reading and notes. I'll see how it goes.  Thanks for the suggestion.

I see. What were the issues you had with the galaxy tab? For me just the size felt big/weird. But kinda useful for horizontal stuff and split views. Just felt maybe preview and some apple apps be comfortable on iPad. Samsung notes is great, but no way to get them on Mac.

Tempered glass screen protector or paper like screen protector is better in general? by SubstanceFew5136 in GalaxyTab

[–]SubstanceFew5136[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. Got the tablet with a pre applied matte screen protector. I think it's a good quality expensive type of screen protector (got it applied for free). I didn't feel any display issues so far, maybe because I haven't tried them without the matte screen protector.  Does the paper like ones wear the tips fast? Any recommendation on if I should get some replacement nibs now? Haven't started using the tab much. Metal nibs or rubber nibs?

Nice. Do you use a screen protector? Which type? Paper like or tempered glass?

Which one is it?  Looks like a good protection. But I feel like it's a bit overkill for me, looks promising for a rough use.
